Oxfam Danmark
The global Oxfam-family
In earlier years, Oxfam Denmark was called IBIS - today we are part of the global Oxfam family. Here we stand together stronger in the fight for a just and more equal future for all.
Oxfam is internationally recognized as one of the most influential humanitarian organizations. We challenge inequality and build strong partnerships and alliances, both locally and globally.
We believe that people have the ability to create a better future for themselves. When societies mobilize and stand together, we can make a difference. That's why we support everyone from women, young people, and indigenous peoples to grassroots groups and local civil society organisations.
Our mission is to help those in urgent need of humanitarian support while at the same time working to address the root causes of poverty and inequality. Instead, we want to create fairer and more sustainable solutions for the people and for the planet.
At our office in Copenhagen, approximately 70 dedicated employees are working to:
- Reduce global inequality by empowering civil society
- Promote quality education that creates real change for people
- Fight for climate justice, and
- Ensure fair economic systems.
We do this through our development projects, relief work, and peacebuilding, and our work reaches out to local partners in around 80 countries, where we together create sustainable change.
Our culture: Together we create change
At the heart of Oxfam's culture lie three core values: Empowerment, Accountability and Inclusiveness.
This means that we don't just talk about justice – we live it: we work in partnership with civil society around the world, and decisions are made with respect for both local ownership and professional insight. Our employees thrive in a committed environment: where professionalism, courage, and perseverance go hand in hand, and where we expect everyone to contribute to both strategy and action. We believe in transformative change through research, enlightenment, activism, and political advocacy—and we provide space for learning, experimentation, and a constructive dialogue.
What do we offer?
When you work at Oxfam Denmark, you become part of a global organization that works for a more just world every day. As an employee, you get a meaningful workday with direct impact: our projects deal with everything from quality education and climate justice to economic justice and emergency aid.
In September 2025, we moved to a brand-new NGO house, called VOX, a few minutes from Ryparken Station in Copenhagen Ø, where we share everyday life and newly furnished facilities with 11 other small and large NGOs. Our canteen, with predominantly vegetarian lunch, reflects our community and sustainability focus, and you can join weekly morning yoga in the common training room, Culture Club and other events.
You get flexible working hours with an option to work from home 1 or 2 days per week. Full time is 37 hours including lunch. Salary and pension are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement, AC/the state and HK/the state. We offer health insurance and massage schemes as gross salary schemes.
For students, we offer an internship program of 3 to 6 months at our office in Copenhagen. You will be assigned a permanent contact person and the opportunity to make analyses, information material, events and evaluations. In addition, you will get a free lunch in the VOX canteen. The internship is a great opportunity to transform theoretical knowledge into practice, gain a deep knowledge of development work, and help strengthen civil society globally. Our internships starting in February and September are posted twice a year, so keep an eye out for oxfam.dk.
