Your new role
As a Storage Engineer, you will play a critical role in our Hybrid Storage & Compute team, where you will deploy and support cutting-edge storage solutions in globally distributed hybrid environments. You will work on software-defined storage, cloud-native storage (AWS/Azure), HPC, machine learning infrastructure, and enterprise storage platforms, delivering scalable and innovative solutions to support scientific research. The role also includes modernizing storage systems and implementing tools for data tiering and lifecycle management.
Key responsibilities:
- Deploy and support software-defined storage, cloud-native storage solutions in AWS and Azure, and high performance RDMA storage hardware in hybrid environments.
- Automate performance monitoring and lifecycle management using tools like IAAC tools Ansible, and Terraform.
- Evaluate and deploy modern storage technologies, such as Qumulo, Weka, and observability tools like Starfish.
- Manage data lifecycle (backup, archive, tiering) complex data workloads and optimize storage performance in distributed systems working with large datasets.
- Collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders including research users, engineering teams, and senior management.
- Act as an expert resource in cloud storage, infrastructure automation, and scientific computing solutions, such as HPC and machine learning.

You will join the Advanced Computational Infrastructure unit, part of Novo Nordisk’s Digital, Data & IT (DD&IT) organization. The team consists of 10+ highly skilled and diverse colleagues who support scientific research globally, delivering hybrid cloud technology platforms through Agile methodologies. Your skills & qualifications
To succeed in this role, we expect you to bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, and on-premises).
- Proven track record as a Storage Engineer, with expertise in cloud storage solutions and performance automation tools.
- Daily operational experience with CEPH, including monitoring, issue resolution, and upgrade planning.
- Expertise in data lifecycle management, including backup, archiving, and tiered storage solutions.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of scripting and programming languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and observability tools.
- Deep experience of one or more storage protocols (e.g. nfs, SMB, s3).
Preferred additional skills:
- Familiarity with scientific computing (HPC or ML), workload management / job scheduling systems such as SLURM or K8S integrations.
- Experience working with multiple petabyte object based data sets with posix interfaces (AWS file gateway, S3 Mountpoint, blob fuse)
- Familiarity with ServiceNow ITSM/CMDB and serverless computing, networks, and security.
- Integration/implementation of technologies such as RDMA, GPU Direct Storage, and DPDK.
- Qumulo, Weka, and observability tools like Starfish.
