Your new role
As part of the EHS Partner team in R&ED, you will drive EHS in our CAPEX portfolio in R&ED across our different geographies. The position, although appointed in the Operations team carrying in the reporting function across EHS for R&ED, will be workwise focused with the R&ED Investment team. You will take the lead in coordinating and ensuring effective EHS planning on all aspects of the R&ED CAPEX investment portfolio at any given point in time.
You will be the go-to person across construction EHS and engage with a wide range of stakeholders at our different global sites. You will collaborate with our laboratory and office-work focused EHS partners within R&ED to ensure that EHS duties in CAPEX projects are holistically covered. As a cross-functional team-member of the Operation and Investment teams, you will have a pivotal role in R&ED’s EHS management processes taking full responsibility for the reporting around construction activities. Lastly, you will be the R&ED construction EHS representative within the wider Novo Nordisk EHS community.
Your main responsibilities within the R&ED CAPEX projects will include:
- Lead and support planning and implementation of Health & Safety (H&S) activities across construction projects, incl. development of H&S plans, risk assessments, integration of H&S perspective into design, execution strategy, procurement and planning, etc.
- Drive & oversee site safety management, incl. performing site inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards, monitor contractor mobilisation process to verify compliance, serve as advisor during critical construction activities to secure implementation of safety measures
- Regulatory & Corporate compliance: Ensuring compliance with local, national and corporate H&S regulations and standards on R&ED Investments CAPEX projects
- Reporting & Documentation: Preparation of all relevant material and briefing documentation around construction EHS and the collaborative facilitation of the Health & Safety Management Reviews across the R&ED EVP area
- Support steering and guidance of the Work Permit Offices across the global R&ED sites in accordance with Novo Nordisk H&S guidelines
- Collaboration: Act as the H&S liason between project teams, contractors, consultants and regulatory bodies. Close collaboration with local and global Health & Safety corporate partners from CMC, Product Supply, and CFA
Your new department
The R&ED DK Operations team supports our Danish R&ED sites by managing and improving daily operations within our working space. The team covers EHS, Space Management and Improvement, and Laboratory Operations creating a strong internal collaboration mentality where we lift and move our area beyond what we could achieve in isolation. Within EHS, we are extensively collaborating with our partners in the R&ED Investment team who are responsible for the project management of the global R&ED CAPEX portfolio.
Your skills & qualifications
To succeed in this position, you will have:
- A BSc degree within a construction or engineering related profession, paired with an education or certification, and practical background of EHS with a focus on construction
- Around 5 years of experience in EHS management within construction project planning and execution phases
- Solid knowledge of the construction specific EHS legislation and procedures in Denmark – additional knowledge of relevant Health & Safety legislation & procedures in the UK or US is of advantage
- Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills, with a keen ability to communicate effectively in a diverse stakeholder landscape, including leadership
- Preferably experience from international companies with mature H&S management set-up
- Preferably active project and indirect people management experience
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
You can travel for business related reasons to the UK or US with the purpose of conducting construction site visits and reviews.
On a personal level, you are self-driven, dedicated, and proactive with great communication, presentation and relationship building skills. You are naturally the go-to-person when it comes to construction EHS and can engage a wide range of stakeholders effectively. You thrive in a team environment while you retain clear ownership of your area of expertise and can stand up to do the right thing at any time.
