The position
As Manager for a Mechanical Engineering team in Device Engineering (DE), you will manage one of three Mechanical Engineering teams comprising 10-14 professionals. You will play a crucial role in maintaining and developing the necessary capabilities in Mechanical Engineering to support the strategy. Reporting to the director of DE, your responsibilities will include managing project allocations, building capabilities, and operationalizing the team's strategy.
Some of your main responsibilities include:
- Setting direction and fostering high performance and engagement through team empowerment, leading by example, and building psychological safety and trust
- Ensuring resource allocation to our development projects
- Prioritizing critical tasks and assigning work accordingly
- Managing stakeholders internally and externally
- Being accountable for planning and executing the technical deliverables in the device development projects covered by mechanical engineering
- Collaborating with the mechanical engineering manager team and mechanical process manager to set the future direction for mechanical DE in Novo Nordisk

Qualifications
The preferred candidate has the following qualifications:
- Hold a Master's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical field
- Have previous experience with product, device, or manufacturing development, ideally from a mechanical engineering perspective in a regulated environment (preferably from medical devices or the pharmaceutical industry)
- 1-2 years of leadership experience
- Self reflective know s your own strengths and weaknesses
- Project leadership would be an advantage but not a requirement
- Be fluent in both written and spoken English

You have a demonstrated ability to identify better practices and create improvements in methods, techniques, and approaches. Finally, you have good mentoring and training skills along with a positive mindset.
About the department
In DE, we are responsible for all project deliveries within key engineering disciplines, including Systems Engineering, Risk Management, and Mechanical Engineering. We are a team of over 200 people continuously adapting to develop and deliver best-in-class products in the most efficient and enjoyable way possible.
Mechanical Engineering underpins most aspects of medical device development and as a Mechanical Engineering manager, you will be part of a team of 4 Mechancial Engineering leaders but you are also part of a larger leadership group with first line leaders from other areas.
We are passionate about developing the world's best medical devices for the treatment of chronic diseases within our focused therapeutic areas: Diabetes, Obesity, Haemophilia & Growth hormone disorders. We design and develop delivery systems for our treatments to ensure correct dosing and convenience for the patient. Our devices are developed in close collaboration between patients and the scientific discovery teams at Novo Nordisk, ensuring that the developed devices are safe and easy for patients to use while being compatible with the drug products taken into development.
