Application Engineer – BMS & Controls

Daikin is expanding the Application Engineering team within our Nordic Datacenter & Industrial Solutions organisation. We are looking for an Application Engineer – BMS & Controls to provide specialist expertise for demanding HVAC applications across the Nordic markets, including datacenters, clean rooms, pharmaceutical facilities, and process cooling.

Working across all Nordic countries, you will provide expertise and consistent technical quality to:

• Sales: Support industrial-sector opportunities by translating customer requirements into appropriate BMS and control solutions.
• Project teams: Provide technical input during design and execution, including validation of control principles and integration requirements.
• Service: Support commissioning and troubleshooting related to control logic, communication, sensor setup, and system interlocks.

Together with Sales and your direct contacts at Daikin Applied Europe, our European headquarters for applied equipment, you will bring Nordic market needs into the continued development of BMS functionality, control features, and integration capabilities.

Your responsibilities

• Select and design BMS and control solutions for systems including AHUs, chillers, heat pumps, fan walls, and ancillary equipment.
• Develop control strategies, sequences of operation, and protection functions based on equipment capabilities, component limitations, and the wider plant architecture.
• Define communication interfaces, I/O, control wiring, sensors, power and signal routing, and network requirements.
• Work with protocols including Modbus, BACnet, LonWorks, and KNX, covering addressing, parameter mapping, and network architecture.
• Prepare system overviews, functional descriptions, I/O lists, wiring schematics, and integration diagrams.
• Develop project concepts and produce detailed descriptions and high-quality technical drawings.
• Resolve complex application and integration issues together with customers, Nordic colleagues, and factory specialists.

Your experience allows you to form and defend your own technical judgement. You challenge specifications when the application requires a different approach, explain your reasoning clearly, and work systematically until you have a solution you can stand behind.

You also value the contribution of other specialists. You share your expertise, ask precise questions, and welcome the technical discussions that turn a good concept into a better solution.

We imagine that you:

• Have a degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field.
• Bring substantial practical experience from BMS or controls engineering, preferably within industrial HVAC or similarly complex applications.
• Understand industrial HVAC systems and the interaction between AHUs, chillers, pumps, valves, sensors, and their controls.
• Have technical depth in I/O planning, control wiring, panel layouts, signal types, grounding requirements, and safety interlocks.
• Can develop and critically review functional descriptions, P&IDs, control schematics, and integration diagrams.
• Communicate fluently in English and at least one Nordic language.
