R&D Project Manager with Strategic Involvement - Maritime Safety Solutions

At Cobham Satcom in Aalborg, we develop maritime safety communication products for the professional maritime market, supporting safe and compliant operations while helping protect lives at sea.

We are looking for someone who enjoys driving development projects from idea to release, but who also likes discussing where products, technologies, and markets are heading next.

You'll join a small team responsible for our Maritime Safety portfolio and work closely with engineers, product managers, customers, and management. The role reports directly to the Program Director.

What You'll Be Doing

While this is primarily a project management role, we also offer the opportunity to contribute to technology decisions, product strategy, and the direction of future solutions. Your main responsibility will be to lead development projects and ensure they are delivered successfully.

This is not a project administrator role. We are looking for someone who enjoys making decisions, solving problems, and helping teams move forward.

Some of the things you'll be doing:

  • Leading development projects from concept to market release.
  • Working with engineers, architects, product managers, and customers to shape future products.
  • Coordinating project activities across R&D, operations, certification, and commercial teams.
  • Balancing technical possibilities, customer needs, schedules, and budgets.
  • Contributing to discussions about technology, product strategy, and where we should go next.

What We're Looking For

You may already be an experienced project manager, or you may be earlier in your project manager career with relevant project experience, the right mindset, technical curiosity, and willingness to learn.

You'll probably recognize yourself in several of these:

  • You have experience leading software, hardware, or other technical development projects.
  • You have a higher technical education in software, electronics, systems engineering, or similar.
  • You enjoy working with both people and technology.
  • You like taking ownership and making things happen.
  • You are practical and good at balancing technical, commercial, and project considerations.

Experience with maritime, communication, or safety-critical systems is a bonus, but not required.

What Makes This Role Interesting

  • You'll have real influence on products, priorities, and technology decisions.
  • You'll work in a small, highly skilled team where decisions are made quickly.
  • You'll be trusted to take ownership and make an impact.
  • You'll get a mix of project leadership, technology, and strategy rather than being confined to a traditional project management role.
  • You'll lead development of communication and safety solutions to support critical situations.
  • You'll join a team with an informal culture and plenty of room for good ideas regardless of title.

If you enjoy technology, like bringing people together around a common goal, and want a role where you can genuinely influence both products and direction, we'd love to hear from you.
