Global Privacy & Digital Compliance Officer
Do you want to help a global company navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of privacy, AI, cybersecurity, and digital regulation?
At Struers, we are strengthening our Group Legal function and are looking for a Global Privacy & Digital Compliance Officer to help turn regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
This is your chance to play an instrumental role in enabling proactive compliance, reducing legal risk and enabling responsible innovation, as well as supporting the organization’s strategic objectives globally.
You will have the opportunity to help shape a newly established Group Legal function, work closely with senior stakeholders and make a real impact on how compliance is operationalized across our global organization.
Help build and shape a new Group Legal function
At Struers, you will be joining the global market leader in materialographic solutions, serving customers across academia, research and manufacturing industries worldwide. You will join the newly established Group Legal function, supporting Struers' legal, compliance, and risk management agenda globally.
As Global Privacy & Digital Compliance Officer, you will work closely with the Head of Group Legal and stakeholders across IT, Information Security, HR, R&D, Operations, and Finance. Together, you will help build and maintain a governance framework that supports both compliance and business objectives.
You will be trusted with significant responsibility from day one and have the opportunity to influence how legal and compliance processes are developed, implemented, and operationalized globally. This will grant you significant exposure to senior stakeholders in a collaborative and pragmatic culture with short decision-making paths.
Drive global privacy and digital compliance
You will serve as the operational lead for privacy and digital compliance matters while supporting broader legal and compliance initiatives.
A key part of the role will be to drive, maintain and continuously develop Struers' global privacy program, while also supporting implementation of the company's broader digital compliance agenda, including areas such as AI governance, data governance and emerging digital regulation. As part of a small and agile legal function, you will also provide legal support on a range of technology-related matters, including NDAs, vendor contracts and intellectual property matters.
This includes providing risk-based advice to the organization on identifying, assessing, and mitigating personal data protection and data ethics risks. At a global level, you will provide both strategic and tactical advice on data ethics while bridging legal and compliance requirements with digital initiatives.
Specifically, you will:
- Own, maintain and further develop Struers' privacy and digital compliance governance framework through our Governance-Risk-Compliance platform
- Drive privacy risk assessments, compliance controls and remediation activities across business functions
- Develop and deliver practical guidance, training and awareness programs that strengthen privacy, digital compliance and data governance capabilities across the organization
- Support implementation and governance activities related to AI systems, ensuring alignment with the EU AI Act and Struers' internal AI governance framework as well as Struers' broader digital compliance agenda, including emerging regulations relating to cybersecurity, data governance and digital resilience
- Review, draft and negotiate NDAs and IT-related agreements, including SaaS agreements, software licensing, cloud services, DPAs, IT outsourcing contracts and other vendor agreements
- Support management of intellectual property-related matters, including trade secrets, software licensing and coordination of patent activities with external counsel
- Coordinate with Legal, IT and Information Security on compliance matters, support regulatory notifications and internal escalations, and escalate complex or high-risk issues to the Head of Group Legal
Experience working with privacy, digital compliance and technology law
You combine strong regulatory understanding with the ability to implement practical solutions and drive change across functions. While you enjoy being part of a collaborative international environment, you are equally comfortable working independently, taking ownership and building processes where structures do not yet exist. In doing so, you adopt a pragmatic and business-oriented approach.
Finally, we imagine that you:
- Hold a law degree (cand.jur., LL.M., cand.merc.(jur) or equivalent). However, hands-on experience within the field is more important than your educational background.
- Have several years of experience working with privacy, data protection, digital compliance or related compliance disciplines. Experience with AI governance, emerging digital regulation or IT law would be an advantage. Have experience advising on NDAs, IT and vendor contracts, and a solid understanding of intellectual property, including trade secrets, software IP and licensing
- Communicate fluently in English. Proficiency in German or French would be an advantage.
- CIPP/E, CIPM, or similar privacy certification is an advantage
