Laboratory Manager for Fire Retardent Exterior

At Teknos, our mission is to make the world last longer. We are now looking for a Laboratory Manager to lead the development of fire-retardant coating technologies for exterior wood. This is a unique opportunity for a technically skilled and collaborative leader to drive innovation in a specialist field within a global coatings company.

About the Role

As Laboratory Manager, you will lead a small technical team focused on developing intumescent and fire-retardant coatings. You will combine hands-on technical leadership with project and people management, ensuring that products meet performance and regulatory requirements.

You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as production, procurement and QC, as well as external partners and customers.

You can be located at our site in Vamdrup, Denmark.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead product development of intumescent and fire-retardant coatings for exterior wood.
• Drive innovation in formulation chemistry, binder selection, additive technologies, and fire performance optimization.
• Translate customer needs into actionable technical solutions.
• Stay updated on emerging fire protection technologies, materials, and standards.

Team Management

• Supervise and mentor chemists, lab technicians, and junior chemists.
• Plan workloads, set priorities, and ensure timely project delivery.
• Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with production, QC, procurement, and product management to ensure product success.
• Liaise with external test institutes, raw material suppliers, and regulatory authorities.

What We’re Looking For

• A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• Strong technical background in coatings or related chemical industry, with excellent understanding and prior experience of working with intumescent and fire-retardant coatings.
• Proven hands-on experience in laboratory work and product development
• Previous experience or willingness to grow in leading people
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across functions and countries
• Fluent in English and Danish
