PhD scholarship in UAV-borne monitoring of stream ecology

The Department of Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Environment) advertises a fully funded 3-year PhD position in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV)-borne monitoring of stream ecology with start date January 1, 2018.

The project aims to develop methods to assess ecological status of streams using thermal, hyperspectral and other data from sensors carried by lightweight unmanned airborne vehicles. The PhD study is a part of a larger collaborative project that involves academic institutions, industry and public-sector stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a background in earth sciences/engineering, environmental engineering or remote sensing. The candidate will develop data collection and analysis methods to develop indicators of ecological status and biodiversity in rivers and streams.
