PhD position in Dynamic Modelling of Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell Systems

Kongens Lyngby

The main objective of this PhD research is to develop a mathematical model to describe the dynamic operation of solid oxide cells and its implications in the cell’s lifetime. In addition, you will also study how control strategies and design choices will impact hydrogen costs and energy integration. In order to achieve this goal, you will employ the principles of thermodynamics and empirical correlations to formulate differential equations that mimic the dynamic response of solid oxide cells stacks and systems.

This study will be conducted in close collaboration with projects focused on the experimental determination of degradation rates and the integration of electrolysis systems in industry (e.g., ammonia, methanol and natural gas production).
