Bioenergy & Thermal Power ensures reliable electricity and heat production for our customers while reducing CO2 emissions in our energy production. We do this by having some of the world's most flexible and efficient power stations and by converting our electricity and heat production from coal to sustainable biomass. In this process, we are investing in the development of new CO2-reducing energy technologies.

What we do
DONG Energy’s power stations are an important part of the Danish energy system and they are some of the most efficient and flexible in the world, partly on account of combined electricity and district heat generation. They supply electricity and heat to our customers and contribute to supporting the transformation to renewable energy in the energy system of the future. We are reducing CO2 emissions in our electricity and heat production by replacing fossil fuels with sustainable biomass at our power stations.

Where we operate
DONG Energy’s production of electricity and district heat takes place at our nine central power stations in Denmark, our waste-fired power station and our gas-fired power station in the Netherlands. The power stations have been regularly modified maintained and upgraded so that they produce electricity and heat with optimum efficiency and minimum environmental impact, while also being economical to operate.
