This multidisciplinary research project is part of EU Horizon 2020 project titled SERSing: “Advanced Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) based technologies for gas and liquids sensING in the area of chemical protection”. The goal of the SERSing project is to enable fast detection and identification of chemical hazards at low concentrations in gas and liquid phase.

The aim of the PhD project is to develop SERS-microfluidic devices that can be used for sampling of molecules in gas and liquid phase, and subsequently detecting chemical composition using handheld Raman spectrometers.

The PhD candidate will be a part of the IDUN research group, led by Prof. Anja at DTU Department of Health Technology.

The objective of the PhD is to investigate the requirements for real circularity of plastic materials and products. Centre for Energy Resources Engineering (CERE) at DTU Chemistry seeks a PhD student in the general direction of modelling thermodynamic properties of complex mixtures. CERE is a cross departmental centre.

The CERE group at DTU Chemistry is focused on applied physical chemistry, phase behaviour, and fluid properties where a fundamental understanding of chemistry, physics, and mathematical tools is needed. The primary application areas are within energy resources such as oil and gas production, petroleum processing, carbon dioxide storage, and geothermal energy.

The research activities at CERE DTU Chemistry cover experimental investigations modelling of phase equilibrium, and thermophysical, properties, as well as development of efficient algorithms for phase equilibrium calculations and reactive transport.

PhD positions are available at V-SUSTAIN to work on fundamental experimental studies of new catalysts in the area of:

  • Thermal heterogeneous catalysis of mass-selected clusters for CO2 hydrogenation into methanol or Nitrogen into ammonia, on our microreactor platform.

We invite applications for a 3-year PhD fellowship to develop a new optical microscopy technique for imaging organ-on-a-chip systems. As detailed below, this work shall provide a platform for informing biomedical research and clinical interventions.

As a PhD fellow, you will drive the development of a new type of fluorescence microscope for live-sample imaging of organ-on-a-chip systems mimicking the intestinal barrier, i.e., 3D printed scaffolds hosting cells native to the intestine. In close collaboration with biologists and image analysts at DTU and internationally, you will optimize this microscope to pursue a deeper understanding of how biopharmaceuticals and other compounds pass from the intestinal lumen to the blood.

A 3-year PhD scholarships in high customization computed tomography is available at the Technical University of Denmark. The project will be supervised by Yi Yang. The successful candidate will join the Chemistry branch of the Centre for Energy Resources Engineering (CERE-KEMI), as a part of the Physical and Biophysical Chemistry section at DTU Chemistry and will be working with a team of gifted interdisciplinary young researchers.

The project is a collaboration between DTU Chemistry and the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland. The overarching goal of the project is to design microfluidic experiments that can be combined with novel imaging techniques (e.g. synchrotron radiation-based computed tomography) to observe and understand chemically induced microstructure evolution in porous media on varied length scales.
