Special Consultant within Electrocatalysis
The section SDU Chemical Engineering (ChE) at the Department of Green Technology, University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense invites candidates to apply for a position as Academic Technical staff within electrocatalysis. The position is available from 1st of January 2026 or as soon as possible hereafter.
Responsibilities
The candidate will primarily be engaged in a supporting role within research and development projects at the section of chemical engineering. The work will include, but will not be limited to:
Developing novel materials for electrocatalysis for industrial applications in connection with externally funded research projects
Planning and testing electrocatalysts in connection with externally funded research projects.
Instructing scientific staff and students in how to perform experimental work within catalytic materials.
Help with setting up equipment and coordinating lab experimental work.
Support publishing scientific results
Support with instruction, teaching, research and development tasks at the department in general.
The position thus holds a high level of responsibility but also comes with influence and opportunity to participate in and develop research to the highest international level.
Qualifications
The candidate must have a PhD-degree within electrochemical materials science or equivalent. Apart from the required academic degree, the candidate has to have practical experience with:
Electrochemistry
Developing novel materials for electrocatalysis.
Planning and testing electrocatalysts
Catalyst ink/Electrode development and interface studies
Electrocatalyst durability, degradation mechanism studies
Recycling of critical materials (metals, polymers) from spent electrochemical systems
Nanostructured catalyst/electrocatalyst synthesis and characterization
Hands-on Experience with analytical chemical methods such as XRD, XRF, AAS, UV-Vis/IR spectroscopy, SEM, AFM, TGA, DSC, DMA, BET analyzer, DLS particle size analyzer, Rheometer, including large scale facility, e.g. synchrotron and neutron
Materials testing
Publishing scientific papers in high impact journals as main author and co-author.
Instructing scientific staff at the PhD-fellow and Post Doc level.
Experience with Publishing scientific papers in high impact journals as main author and co-author will be an asset.
Experience with Instructing scientific staff at the PhD-fellow and Post Doc level will be an asset.

The candidate should have at least a PhD- degree within electrochemical materials science or closely related fields and will be expected to conduct research and instruct other researchers within the field of electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, material science.
