Associate Professor position in human-centric machine learning

Job description
ITU is seeking applications for a full-time Associate Professor position in human-centric machine learning. We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated research interest in applying machine learning methods to health-related challenges. The ideal candidate is expected to establish fruitful collaborations with existing research at ITU in the areas of Human-Centered Machine Learning and Audio-Visual processing. A solid background in computer vision is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have a clear interest in developing innovative machine learning approaches to address a broad spectrum of health-focused applications such as, for example but not limited to, body analysis, human motion analysis, facial expression detection.
In addition, candidates for the position should be able to:
- Attract external research funding
- Supervise PhD students
- Read/speak a Scandinavian language (or have the willingness to learn Danish)

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) is a teaching and research-based university specializing in information technology (IT) and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 160 full-time Faculty members. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialization of IT.

Salary and terms of employment
Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Taxation’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) and job structure for academic staff at universities.

- Documentation of academic degrees (copy of degree certificates etc.)
- A research statement, including a statement of purpose and research vision that provides evidence of independent thinking, novelty and originality, matching the position
- Copies of max. 5 different publications of research at a high international level in well-respected peer reviewed venues that are relevant to the position (the publications should be numbered)
- Documentation of a) received observation and feedback on teaching, b) pedagogical experience and training courses as a teacher, c) a formal written assessment of teaching competence and d) a teaching record within one or more of the teaching areas listed for the position
- A record of contributing to the goals of the institutions in which the candidate has worked, for example participation in committees, etc.
The applicant will be accessed according to the Appointment Order from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of 13 March 2012.
The IT University may use shortlisting in connection to the recruitment process. In case of shortlisting, the Chair of the hiring committee selects applicants for assessment in consultation with the hiring committee after the application deadline. All applicants are notified whether their application has been passed for assessment. The shortlisting of candidates for assessment is based on the criteria in the job posting.
