About the research project

The vacant position is supported by funding for two distinct projects, linked by the methodologies employed.

Phase 1 (12 Months): The work will focus on establishing a tanycytic model using primary cells isolated from mice. This model will be utilized to image the polarized transport of fluorescent hormones and proteins, aiming to describe receptor-mediated transcytosis into the brain. If feasible, multiphoton imaging in living mice will be conducted to visualize this transport in vivo.

Phase 2 (18 Months): The focus will shift to complex organoid lung models as part of an EU consortium dedicated to rare disease research. The aim will be to develop an automated smart imaging pipeline for organoids, specifically targeting budding events in the growing organoids.

Your job responsibilities

As a Postdoc involved in these projects, your position will be primarily research-oriented, with the possibility of teaching assignments. You will contribute to the department's development through high-quality, internationally recognized research and publications. Collaboration with colleagues on your project will be integral, with ongoing supervision and guidance provided.

Your main tasks will consist of:
  • Independent research of high international quality, including publication.
  • Isolating tanycytes from mice and cultivate them the in Transwell models.
  • Work with human iPSC derived tanycytes.
  • Establishing lung organoid model for high-content imaging.
  • Imaging using advanced microscope such as multiphoton, spinning disk, high content screening microscopes and potential also light sheet microscopes.
You will report to the professor Morten S. Nielsen.

Your competences

You have academic qualifications at PhD level and have experience with animal experiment and isolation of primary tanycytes. The preferred candidates have also a strong record in imaging using confocal and more advanced microscopes.

As a person, you have good interpersonal skills, are inclusive and team-oriented and able to contribute to a good work environment. We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.

In order to be assessed as qualified for a Postdoc position, you must meet these academic criteria.
