Job description
For this professorship, the main emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of immunological bioinformatics.
The professor will lead a research program that expands expertise in both applied and theoretical bioinformatics at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Initiative for Vaccines and Immunity, NIVI Research (NIVI-R) and the LEO Foundation Skin Immunology Research Center (SIC) within the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. This role involves developing and applying advanced bioinformatics algorithms to investigate the functional diversity of immune cells in homeostasis, immunization, and disease, as well as identifying and assessing potential vaccine candidates and therapeutic targets.
The position will be a joint (50-50%) appointment between NIVI-R and SIC. At SIC the professor will function as Group Leader and PI establishing and leading a team of bioinformatics specialists, driving the development of research infrastructure that enhances and complements existing programs at both centres. At NIVI-R the professor will function as Co-PI in the group for Computational Immunology and Microbiology.
The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:
- Research, including publication/academic dissemination
- Research-based teaching, including associated examination
- Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
- Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
- Academic assessments

- Document a high degree of original academic production at an international level, including considerable contributions to the development of the academic discipline

Terms of employment
The position is a permanent position.
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the
Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional
Associations) or other relevant professional organisations.
Candidates who have never worked in Denmark before are normally eligible to apply for a significant tax reduction.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
