The University of Copenhagen seeks an Expert Technical Assistant for Transgenic Services for the Transgenic Mouse Core Facility at the Department of Experimental Medicine, at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, for a 1-year position with the possibility of extension, starting June 16th, 2025, or as soon as possible hereafter upon agreement with the candidate.

The Transgenic Mouse Core Facility at the University of Copenhagen provides basic and advanced transgenic mouse services to scientists (Core Facility for Transgenic Mice – University of Copenhagen)

Job description

The Expert Technical Assistant’s duties will primarily consist of:

  • designing gene targeting and editing strategies in mouse
  • cloning of targeting and transgenesis vectors
  • generating CRISPR/Cas9-based reagents (i.e. gRNAs and templates)
  • designing genotyping strategies
  • conducting molecular biology services related to the generation and genotyping of transgenic mice
  • advising and supporting users on gene targeting projects
  • development of new transgenic techniques
  • close interaction and coordination with other members of the team
  • management issues including reporting, handling of databases (filemaker) and electronic lab notebooks (benchling) and benchmarking of services
The applicant could be occasionally required to perform weekend work.

Required qualifications

We are looking for a team-player candidate with a strong background in Molecular Biology, deep understanding of genome-editing technologies, especially CRISPR/Cas9, proven experience in designing and generating genetically modified mouse models, a creative and proactive attitude towards the characterization of new models and high capacity of troubleshooting as well as a clear service-oriented mindset.

Terms of employment

The selected candidate will be offered a one-year contract as a starting arrangement. Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or with the Danish state sector (OAO-S) and collective agreement of the Danish Laboratory Technicians Association in the trade union HK-Stat, salary group 5. Further there is a possibility of negotiating supplements based on qualifications.
