Millwright

The Millwright is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment in a gold processing plant. The role involves working with conveyors, crushers, mills, pumps, and other heavy machinery critical to mineral processing. The Millwright ensures optimal equipment performance to minimize downtime and maximize productivity and safety.

ROTATION: 4 Weeks on / 4 Weeks off

LOCATION: Nalunaq Mine, Greenland

TYPE: Full time

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, align, dismantle, and move industrial equipment such as crushers, conveyors, screens, ball and SAG mills, pumps, and agitators.

• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance tasks on plant machinery.

• Diagnose mechanical problems and repair or replace defective parts, including bearings, shafts, seals, gearboxes, valves, and couplings.

• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals to determine work procedures.

• Use hand and power tools, equipment safely and effectively.

• Collaborate with other maintenance and operations team members during plant shutdowns or emergency repairs.

• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational procedures.

• Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and other documentation accurately.

• Participate in continuous improvement efforts and reliability-centered maintenance initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Red Seal Certification or recognized Millwright Trade Certificate.

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an industrial or mining environment, preferably in a gold or mineral processing plant.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.

• Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software is an asset.

• Welding and fabrication skills are highly desirable.

• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

• Physically fit and able to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

Work Conditions:

• Exposure to loud noises, dust, and varying weather conditions.

• Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.

• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times while on site.

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience with gold leaching, CIP/CIL circuits, and thickener maintenance.

• Familiarity with OEM equipment (Metso, FLSmidth, Weir, etc.).

• Commitment to workplace safety and environmental stewardship.

• Team player with strong communication skills.
