Buying Assistant

Do you combine a strong product instinct with a systematic mindset and an eye for detail?

At MERCHLAND, you will help turn customer requirements into great products – working closely with colleagues and suppliers from development through pricing, production and final delivery. This is not a traditional fashion buying role. At MERCHLAND, success is less about creating the next collection and more about precision, structure and execution.

YOUR TEAM

You will join the Buying team at MERCHLAND – an independent BESTSELLER brand under HEARTLAND, built on many years of experience within JACK & JONES. MERCHLAND specialises in customised textile solutions for major international brands and organisations. Our core business is Merchandise, complemented by Blanks and selected Corporate Wear projects. Unlike a traditional fashion brand, our starting point is the customer. Together, we define exactly what they need – from design, quality and fit to colours, trims, prints, embroidery, packaging and delivery – and then translate those requirements into products our suppliers can execute.

What makes MERCHLAND unique is the combination of two worlds: we operate as a small, focused and entrepreneurial business while having access to BESTSELLER's sourcing expertise, supplier network, systems and international infrastructure.

YOUR ROLE

Your key responsibility is to turn customer requirements into clear, precise and executable instructions for our suppliers – and make sure every detail is followed through. You will work with customised products where small details matter. A colour, measurement, print placement, trim, label or packaging requirement must be understood correctly, communicated clearly and executed as agreed. You will work closely with Sales, Design and suppliers across the full process.

More specifically, you will:

  • Translate customer and design requirements into supplier instructions
  • Manage customer-specific products through sampling, production and delivery
  • Coordinate qualities, colours, measurements, trims, prints, embroidery and packaging
  • Request and evaluate prices, lead times and production possibilities
  • Negotiate prices, quality and delivery terms
  • Maintain structure across multiple styles, customers and deadlines
  • Follow up on samples, approvals, production milestones and deliveries
  • Identify risks early and take action
  • Build strong supplier relationships
  • Ensure consistently high quality and attention to detail

YOUR PROFILE

You are proactive, structured and have a natural interest in products and how they are made. You enjoy working with details, keeping an overview and making sure tasks are followed through. You have a practical approach to your work and enjoy being part of a team where everyone contributes.

We imagine that you:

  • Have a relevant educational background within buying or a similar field, and/or experience from a similar role
  • Have an eye for product details and quality
  • Enjoy working with data, Excel and administrative tasks, ensuring information is accurate and up to date
  • Are good at keeping track of tasks and deadlines and following up when needed
  • Are fluent in English, both written and spoken

YOUR BENEFITS

You will join MERCHLAND at an exciting stage and work in a small organisation where responsibility is broad, decisions are close and your contribution is visible. You will get close to both products and business, work with international customers and suppliers, and become part of MERCHLAND's growth journey.
