Application Engineer – Air Side

Daikin is expanding the Application Engineering team within our Nordic Datacenter & Industrial Solutions organisation. We are looking for an Application Engineer – Air Side to provide specialist expertise for datacenters, clean rooms, pharmaceutical facilities, process cooling, and other demanding industrial applications.

Your expertise will support teams across all Nordic countries:

• Sales: Select and develop the right air-side solutions for industrial opportunities and customer requirements.
• Project teams: Provide technical input during design and execution, ensuring that equipment selections and system concepts remain valid as the project develops.
• Service: Provide product-specific support during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and after-sales activities.

Together with Sales and European product specialists, you will bring Nordic application experience and market requirements into product development discussions. This gives you the opportunity to influence how future air-side products and solutions meet the needs of our markets.

Your responsibilities

• Select and configure Air Handling Units, Fan Walls, Computer Room Air Handlers, fan coils, and related equipment.
• Analyse customer requirements and develop tailored system concepts using Daikin products and technologies.
• Apply your knowledge of airflow, heat exchange, filtration classes, fan technology, and psychrometrics to equipment selection and application design.
• Advise consultants, customers, and internal Sales teams on air-side applications and technical choices.
• Assess market requirements with Sales and contribute to new system and product concepts.
• Prepare documentation, presentations, and proposals that communicate equipment selections, system concepts, and application principles clearly.
• Develop project concepts and work with technical assistance to produce detailed descriptions and high-quality technical drawings.

You know that the best solution is rarely determined by a single duty point. Airflow, pressure losses, heat exchange, filtration, fan performance, acoustics, available space, energy use, and the wider HVAC system all affect the result.

Your experience allows you to balance these requirements and make clear technical choices. You can identify the trade-offs, explain their consequences, and recommend a solution you are prepared to stand behind.

You enjoy discussing applications with other specialists and turning different perspectives into a stronger concept. You contribute your experience openly and value colleagues who bring technical depth of their own.

We imagine that you:

• Have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Bring substantial practical experience with air-side systems, AHUs, or related HVAC applications, either as a consultant or technical specialist.
• Have strong knowledge of airflow, heat exchange, filtration, fan technology, and psychrometrics.
• Can translate demanding customer requirements into equipment selections and system concepts.
• Work confidently with HVAC selection software, engineering tools, technical documentation, and proposals.
• Communicate fluently in English and at least one Nordic language.

Experience from datacenters, clean rooms, pharmaceutical facilities, or other critical environments will be an advantage. We value the depth of your expertise and technical judgement more than whether you developed them over seven, eight, or twelve years.
