Hightech Patent Consultant – Trainee or Experienced - Aarhus/Jutland
HØIBERG is one of Europe's leading and most respected patent law firms and the preferred partners of a wide range of R&D intense companies and universities world-wide. To meet the growing demand for our services in Aarhus, we are expanding our office and are looking for a talented and ambitious colleague with a strong business sense and an interest in the commercialization of R&D. We welcome applications from both aspiring patent consultant trainees and experienced patent professionals.
You hold a university degree in mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering, physics, or computer science. We appreciate minds equipped with a curiosity for science and technology even outside your core area of expertise. Industrial experience, a PhD degree, or both, would be a merit.
As a patent consultant, you will work at the intersection of technology, law, and business, helping clients turn innovative ideas into valuable intellectual property. Your duties may include working closely with inventors to identify patentable inventions, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, assessing patentability, and advising on patent infringement, validity, and freedom to operate. You will also help clients develop and manage patent portfolios, provide strategic IP counseling aligned with their commercial objectives, and assist with licensing agreements, IP due diligence, patent oppositions and litigation.
We are looking for an ambitious, analytical thinker with a strong technical foundation and a natural willingness to take responsibility. You are a skilled communicator and feel comfortable engaging with clients, colleagues, and other people in a professional setting. You aim to provide excellent and accurate service to your clients. You speak and write English and Danish fluently and can focus on both the details and the bigger picture. Protecting and enforcing intellectual property rights can be a lengthy process that requires both quick action and great patience. We expect you to defend our clients’ rights with the same passion as if they were your own.
You will work closely with experienced colleagues in Aarhus, but HØIBERG is an international workplace, so you will as well be collaborating with colleagues and clients in Copenhagen, Herning, Stockholm, Lund and Reykjavik. We are committed to ensuring that our employees thrive and have opportunities to develop their full potential, and we actively endorse diversity, equity, and inclusion and offer attractive employment conditions.
In the absence of prior experience with patents, you will be offered a comprehensive training program during the initial 3-5 years leading up to qualification as a European Patent Attorney (EPA). A part of the training is conducted within the framework of your daily work, but you will also need to allocate a part of your private time to patent training during the coming years.
We are looking to fill this position in January-February 2027. Apply to job@hoiberg.com labeled "Hightech Patent Consultant - Aarhus" in the subject field as soon as possible and no later than 30 November 2026.
Candidates may be invited for an interview on an ongoing basis. Please note that the application must be in English and should include copies of university transcripts, and other relevant merits. If you have any questions regarding your application, please contact Mads Wittrup Lindeloff or Jens Jørgen Schmidt at telephone number +45 3332 0337.
