Fleet Manager (Post Fixture & Claims)

Join our team as a Fleet Manager (Post Fixture & Claims) at DP World’s Shipping Solutions EAM, Aarhus, Denmark

Are you an experienced maritime professional who enjoys working hands-on with fleet operations, post-fixture activities and claims handling? Do you thrive on resolving operational challenges, applying sound commercial judgement and ensuring that cases are followed through to resolution?

If you also bring the ability to guide and develop a small team while remaining actively involved in day-to-day operations, you might be the person we are looking for as our new Fleet Manager (Post Fixture & Claims).

Working in Fleet Management at Shipping Solutions EAM

As Fleet Manager (Post Fixture & Claims), your primary focus will be hands-on operational delivery across post-fixture activities, claims handling and vessel-condition matters. You will take direct ownership of cases, resolve operational and contractual issues, and ensure timely, commercially sound outcomes.

Alongside your operational responsibilities, you will lead and develop our Post Fixture & Claims team, which currently consists of three colleagues: two based in Aarhus and one in Cyprus.

This is an operationally focused role with people-management responsibilities – not a primarily managerial position. You will remain closely involved in the daily work, handling cases yourself and supporting colleagues with complex issues. Leadership will complement this hands-on involvement through clear prioritization, practical guidance, coaching and effective ways of working.

You will ensure effective charter party follow-up, timely and commercially sound claims resolution, vessel condition oversight, and compliance with relevant contractual, regulatory and internal requirements. You will also work closely with colleagues and stakeholders across Chartering, Operations, Capacity Management, Bunker, Finance, Legal, Insurance, Technical, shipowners, brokers, agents, surveyors and service providers.

By leading through practical involvement, you will help strengthen team capability, establish clear ownership and maintain a consistent, high-quality approach across the function.

The role is based at our headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark, which will relocate to our new state-of-the-art facility, Irmahus, in Aarhus Ø in early 2027. Travel is expected for approximately 10–20 days per year, primarily short trips within Europe. You report to the Fleet Director.

Who are you?

You are first and foremost a hands-on maritime professional with a strong understanding of ships, shipping and vessel operations. You enjoy working directly with operational details, taking ownership of cases and finding practical solutions to complex issues.

You ideally have a technical or maritime background. This could include experience as a Marine Engineer, Chief Officer, maritime trainee or within another relevant shipping or seafaring discipline.

You bring at least 6–9 years of relevant experience from shipping, chartering, fleet management, marine operations or claims handling, including a minimum of 3–4 years of leadership experience.

You are comfortable in a role where operational delivery comes first, complemented by responsibility for leading and developing a small team. You lead by example, stay close to the work and provide practical support that helps colleagues deliver.

Additionally, we expect you to have:

  • Strong knowledge of charter parties, post-fixture processes, claims handling, off-hire matters and vessel operations
  • Practical experience handling operational cases from initial assessment through to resolution
  • Experience with vessel-condition follow-up, surveys, contractual compliance and cost control
  • Strong commercial, analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement in complex or disputed cases
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; Danish is an advantage

You also bring:

  • A pragmatic, collaborative and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to prioritize operational needs and meet deadlines
  • Clear communication and stakeholder-management skills across internal and external partners
  • A resilient, continuous-improvement mindset focused on operational excellence, compliance and service quality
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to coach, develop and motivate colleagues through day-to-day collaboration and hands-on support
