Finance & Settlement Data Analyst
We are looking for a Finance & Settlement Data Analyst to own the financial and settlement data that sits between our trading desk, our counterparties, and the books — turning messy settlement data into clean, trusted numbers the business can act on.
Why this role matters
Hybrid Greentech is a fast-growing, tech-first energy trading scale-up building the data and algorithmic infrastructure behind the green transition. As we trade across more European power markets, accurate financial and settlement data becomes mission-critical — it underpins cash forecasting, risk reporting, and the trust our counterparties place in us. This role exists to make that data clean, reliable, and automated as we scale.
The role
You will be the bridge between trading operations and finance — reconciling traded volumes against settlement statements from TSOs, exchanges, and counterparties; investigating breaks; and turning messy settlement data into clean, trusted numbers the business can act on. As an individual contributor working closely with traders, finance, quants, and engineering, your work will directly shape financial accuracy, cash forecasting, and risk reporting.
What you will do
- Lead the settlement and reconciliation cycle across power markets end-to-end (day-ahead, intraday, balancing, ancillary services) matching trades, invoices, and TSO/exchange statements, and leading the customer settlement process, including invoicing and cash balances.
- Investigate and resolve settlement breaks with counterparties, exchanges, and internal desks, driving root-cause fixes rather than one-off patches.
- Build and maintain SQL/Python pipelines that ingest counterparty and market data, calculate expected settlements, and surface discrepancies automatically.
- Partner with finance on month-end close — accounting attribution, accruals, fee validation, and cash forecasting.
- Support finance in cash analysis and cash flow forecasting to facilitate efficient cash management of flows end-to-end.
- Support new market and product launches by mapping their settlement mechanics and standing up the data flows before go-live.
What you bring
Experience and skills (Required)
- 3–6 years in a finance, settlement, middle-office, or data analyst role — ideally in energy trading, commodities, banking, telecom, or another market-facing environment.
- Strong SQL and working Python (polars) and comfortable wrangling large, imperfect datasets without reaching Excel as a first resort.
- Solid grasp of the trade lifecycle and settlement mechanics: matching, netting, fees, invoicing, and breaks.
- Numerate and precise, you notice when a number is 0.3% off, and you care why.
- A clear written communicator in English, able to explain a settlement break to a trader and to a controller in the same week.
Nice to have
- Direct experience with European power markets (EPEX, Nord Pool) or balancing/ancillary services.
- Exposure to dbt, Airflow, or similar data tooling, and familiarity with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Clickhouse).
- Language: English (required); Danish (plus).
- Understanding how settlement activities flow through financial accounting.
What we offer
- A central seat in an ambitious, fast-scaling energy trading business with real, direct impact on the green transition.
- Close collaboration with traders, quants, and engineering — short paths from idea to production, and room to grow into either a deeper data/engineering track or a broader finance leadership track.
- Competitive salary and pension; freedom under responsibility.
- Hybrid working from our Copenhagen office, with flexibility around the trading day.
- The opportunity to work with forward-looking customers and partners driving electrification and the green transition in Northern Europe.
