Electrical Design Engineer
Are you interested in working with electrical and pneumatic design for advanced industrial systems? Do you enjoy working with detailed electrical design and documentation – ensuring that systems are well-structured, compliant, and ready for production? If so, this might be the right opportunity for you.
At GMT Robotics, we develop and deliver automation solutions for complex industrial applications. Our systems combine mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines to solve demanding real-world production challenges.
We are a growing robotics engineering company based in Denmark, and we are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our R&D organization.
Your New Role
You will work closely with mechanical engineers, PLC programmers, and robotics engineers, contributing to electrical systems design throughout the development process.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on electrical and pneumatic design, documentation, and system detailing in industrial applications.
Your work will include both design and documentation tasks, where you will ensure that systems are consistent, compliant with relevant standards, and ready for production.
In this role, you will:
- Design and document electrical systems for industrial automation solutions
- Develop electrical cabinet layouts, including component selection and mounting plate design
- Produce complete documentation packages (schematics, wiring diagrams, cable lists, I/O lists)
- Develop pneumatic diagrams and related documentation
- Maintain and update electrical BOMs and support procurement in component selection
- Contribute to safety documentation, including risk assessments and technical files
- Collaborate with mechanical, software, and project engineers across projects
- Support design reviews and help resolve technical issues during development
You will work with systems where electrical design must integrate with mechanical and control systems, ensuring robust solutions in integration with mechanical and control systems.
As part of our ongoing development, you will support the transition from PC Schematic to EPLAN and contribute to improving documentation structure, templates, and component libraries.
You will be responsible for your own design and documentation tasks and contribute to ensuring quality and consistency across projects.
Your Background
We are looking for a structured and detail-oriented profile with a practical approach to electrical design.
To succeed in this role, you bring:
- 2 years+ of hands-on experience with electrical design in automation, robotics, or machinery
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or similar – or a background as electrician or installer combined with further technical training
- Experience producing electrical documentation for industrial systems
- Experience with electrical cabinet design and industrial wiring practices
- Experience with pneumatic systems and related documentation
- Proficiency with EPLAN and PC Schematic
- A basic understanding of relevant safety standards such as IEC 60204-1, ISO 13849, and the Machinery Directive / Regulation
- Ability to read and understand both electrical and mechanical drawings
Working at GMT Robotics
At GMT Robotics, electrical engineering is an integral part of our R&D organization, working closely with mechanical, software, and robotics teams to deliver complete industrial systems.
You will work hands-on with complex systems used in real production environments and contribute to how we structure and improve our electrical design and documentation practices.
We have an informal and trust-based engineering culture where collaboration, responsibility, and knowledge sharing are central. Engineers work close to the systems they design and contribute throughout the development process.
We offer:
- A technically challenging role in a growing engineering company
- The opportunity to contribute to the development of our electrical design workflow during an ongoing platform transition
- A collaborative and informal work culture with short decision-making paths
- Competitive salary and benefits
- Opportunities for professional development and training
- Flexible working conditions
How to Apply
Please submit your CV along with a short cover letter outlining your background in electrical design and your experience with industrial automation systems.
We welcome applications from candidates based in Denmark, as well as from those open to relocating to Denmark. Applicants must have the legal right to work in Denmark, as we are currently unable to provide visa sponsorship.
