The opportunity
As Assistant Trade Manager, you will be part of a highly specialized and dedicated team, working closely with the Trade Manager, Commercial teams, MSC HQ, overseas agents, and key humanitarian stakeholders.
You will play a central role in supporting, coordinating, and developing MSC’s Aid, Relief & cross trade product, ensuring reliable, compliant, and customer-focused solutions. The role combines commercial understanding, operational execution, and cross-functional coordination across countries and time zones.
One of your main responsibilities are to ensure excellent and effective handling of our commercial strategy within the commercial product. By utilizing your knowledge of the industry and together with the rest of the team you must ensure that our sales product is reliable through support and development of our business on our trades. Your supporting tasks will be handling of quotations, filing procedures, daily contact with customers and overseas agents, including selling value adding services and contributing to trade development with MSC HQ.
Your key area of responsibility
In this role, you will support the Trade Manager in managing and developing the Aid & Relief product, while acting as a key commercial point of contact for customers, agents, and internal stakeholders.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development, execution, and maintenance of MSC’s Aid & Relief strategy
- Coordinating and handling quotations, tenders, and project-based shipments
- Acting as a key contact for NGOs, humanitarian organizations, and institutional customers
- Close collaboration with MSC HQ and global MSC Agents to establish client-specific procedures and tailor-made solutions
- Ensuring compliance with Aid & Relief requirements, documentation standards, and internal procedures
- Supporting trade development initiatives and identifying new business opportunities
- Coordinating internal stakeholders across commercial, operations, documentation, and customer service teams
- Proactively contributing to process optimization and continuous improvement within the Aid & Relief setup
- Supporting and mentoring colleagues where relevant, contributing to a strong and collaborative team culture

We are looking for
The ideal candidate has several years of experience within shipping or freight forwarding, preferably within sea freight, project cargo, or humanitarian logistics.
We expect you to bring:
- Strong commercial and operational understanding of container shipping
- Experience working with complex, time-critical, or project-based cargo
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A high level of structure, ownership, and attention to detail
- A solution-oriented mindset with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments
- Strong collaboration skills and cultural awareness when working across countries and organizations
- Confidence in handling customer dialogue and internal coordination
- Solid IT skills, including Excel and Outlook
- Fluent English skills (written and spoken)
Experience with Aid, relief & crosstrade, NGO customers, tenders, or institutional logistics is considered a strong advantage, but not a requirement.
