Translational Scientist – Muscle Biology
NMD Pharma is a clinical-stage biotechnology company committed to advancing innovative therapies for neuromuscular diseases. Our lead candidate, ignaseclant, is a first-in-class skeletal muscle-targeted therapy currently in clinical development across multiple indications, including CMT, gMG, and SMA.
We have entered an exciting phase of growth as we progress our clinical programs and continue to expand our pipeline. To support our continued progress, we are strengthening our Research team and are seeking an experienced Scientist with expertise in skeletal muscle biology and bioinformatics. At the intersection of skeletal muscle biology, muscle metabolism, and multi-omics data integration, this role will generate and translate complex biological insights into knowledge that supports target understanding, compound evaluation, and strategic research decisions within our neuromuscular programs.
At NMD Pharma, you will join a focused and agile organization with strong scientific capabilities and global collaborations. We value initiative, cross-functional dialogue, and the ability to translate complex science into meaningful development decisions.
You will turn complex biological data into clear insights that help guide both our current clinical studies and future research directions.
Your responsibilities
- Turn complex biological data into clear insights that help guide both our current clinical studies and future research directions.
- Design, execute, and interpret experiments in skeletal muscle biology to support target validation, mechanism-of-action studies, and preclinical candidate selection.
- Generate mechanistic insight into muscle function, adaptation, and disease biology, including pathways linked to muscle energetics and metabolic regulation.
- Integrate proteomics and other omics datasets (e.g., metabolomics, RNA-seq) to uncover disease-relevant mechanisms and translational biomarkers.
- Develop and optimize bioinformatics workflows for processing and analysis of internally generated and vendor-derived datasets.
- Translate computational findings into testable experimental hypotheses and drive follow-up studies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Present data clearly to stakeholders and contribute to scientific discussions that inform project decisions.
- Contribute to muscle phenotyping studies, cell-based assays, and relevant in vitro/ex vivo muscle models.
- Ensure high-quality documentation, reproducibility, and data integrity.
Your profile
Experience from biotech, pharma, or academia with exposure to translational or drug discovery research is highly valued. We are looking for someone who appreciates how biological insight can shape compound progression and project strategy.
- M.Sc. or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biomedicine, Bioinformatics, or related field.
- Strong expertise in skeletal muscle biology, ideally within a translational or disease-relevant setting.
- Experience or interest in muscle metabolism, bioenergetics, or related mechanistic pathways is a strong plus.
- Experience from biotech, pharma, or academia with translational exposure is highly valued.
- Hands-on experience analysing omics datasets; proficiency in R, Python, or similar analytical tools.
- Ability to integrate experimental and computational data into biologically meaningful conclusions.
- Collaborative, structured working style and ability to communicate complex data clearly across disciplines.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required.
What we offer
- The opportunity to join NMD Pharma at a pivotal stage of growth, where scientific input directly influences clinical and pipeline priorities.
- A collaborative and data-driven research culture that values scientific rigor, curiosity, and cross-functional dialogue.
- Close collaboration with experienced colleagues and engagement with international partners across the neuromuscular research and development landscape.
- The chance to work in a focused biotech setting where responsibility, visibility, and influence follow expertise.
- Aarhus-based role with flexibility in working hours and hybrid options.
