Product & Packaging Engineer – Use your craft to serve the magical world of dragons

At Arcane Tinmen, better known as Dragon Shield, we are seeking an experienced engineer to develop product and packaging concepts together with the strong and fearless team of Product Development.

Collaborate with the sourcing and procurement guild to uncover and evaluate materials of promise, crafting detailed “spec packages” that define the essence of each creation. Summon multiple vendors to present their initial offers, then navigate the art of negotiation to secure the finest balance of quality, craft, and cost.

Your Role in the Dragon Den

You’ll join our Product Development department — a team of 15 dedicated creatives, product managers, and quality specialists, all united by a passion for crafting products players truly care about. Reporting to our US-based VP of Brand Development, one of your key responsibilities will be to identify opportunities to reduce material costs, minimize waste, and improve supply chain efficiency. This includes staying informed on sustainable materials and regulatory requirements.

Your Quest: From Concept to Creation

With your extensive experience in manufacturing engineering, you’ll oversee the full development process from concept, through prototyping and vendor adjustments, to final approvals. But there’s more to the job than that:

You Will:

Communicate with vendors in several regions on multiple, simultaneous product and packaging concepts
Drive on-time delivery and key milestones, communicating with the Operations team throughout the development process
Identify opportunities to reduce material costs, minimize waste, and improve supply chain efficiency. This includes staying informed on sustainable materials and regulatory requirements
Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure vendor certification and safety requirements in all key markets
Collaborate with Sales and Branding teams to deliver innovative trade merchandising concepts to multiple channels.

Who You Are

You don’t have to be a weekend regular at the local TCG store, but you should understand — and be curious about — what drives collectors. Once you join our more than 45 passionate colleagues at Dragon Shield, you’ll quickly see the magic behind the scenes.

We imagine you bring:

6-8+ years of Design Engineering experience
Proficient in 2D, 3D CAD-software
Design for manufacturability experience
Experience and knowledge of various materials and manufacturing processes
Creative thinking in both product features and packaging structure innovation.
Ability to estimate “should costs” on product and packaging prior to sending products for vendor quotes
Ability to learn new concepts quickly
Strong organizational and multitasking skills with high attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in which requirements & priorities constantly change
A self-starter with the ability to complete tasks both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Willingness to flex work schedule to work across time zones, depending on location.
