
Facility Manager
Contura International A/S is looking for a Facility Manager to join our Technical Support & Utility team
Company description
Contura International A/S (Contura) is a Copenhagen based medical technology company that develops and manufactures innovative medical products in the fields of orthopaedics, soft tissue augmentation and animal health using its unique, patented hydrogel technology.
The manufacturing facility, which is approved in US, Europe, Canada, Australia, etc., is designed to fulfil global regulatory requirements and deliver Contura’s entire range of hydrogel products. Contura has obtained FDA approval for its product for treating stress urinary incontinence in women, Bulkamid, and a manufacturing license (§39) for production of its hydrogel technology as a medicinal product.
The company’s development, manufacturing and testing processes comply with the European Medical Devices directive 93/42/EEC and the quality system meets the standards required to obtain ISO 13485:2016.
Contura is currently 130+ employees but is growing by the month.
The Position
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Facility Manager to oversee and ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and safety of our facilities. In this role, you will hold process responsibility for all facility-related areas and act as the subject matter expert within your field.
Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Facility Maintenance and Repair Coordination
- Oversee and coordinate all repair and maintenance activities related to facility infrastructure and building systems — including, but not limited to, doors, windows, roof drains, plumbing, sewer systems, electrical installations, and other essential utilities.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure long-term reliability, safety, and operational continuity while minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for tradespeople, contractors, and service providers, ensuring that maintenance activities are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with internal standards.
Minor Facility Expansions
- Plan and manage minor facility expansions and modifications, including office areas, kitchens, and common spaces.
- Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to defined specifications.
Pest Control
- Oversee pest control measures through regular inspections and treatments to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
- Manage contracts and performance of external pest control service providers to ensure compliance with company standards and GMP requirements.
Fire and Emergency Systems Management
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of fire protection and emergency systems, including alarms, extinguishers, and evacuation routes.
- Coordinate with external partners to ensure ongoing compliance with fire safety regulations and emergency preparedness standards.
Access Control and Security Systems
- Manage and maintain all access control (ADK) and security alarm (AIA) systems to ensure proper functionality, compliance with security protocols, and appropriate access rights.
- Ensure timely response and follow-up to any security incidents or system alerts.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on security awareness and emergency response related to access and alarm systems.
Black Utilities (Cooling, Heating, and HVAC)
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of non-critical utility systems such as cooling, heating, and administrative HVAC.
- Coordinate service providers and ensure system uptime, reliability, and energy efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in facility management, preferably within a regulated environment, with a strong focus on maintenance planning and repair coordination.
- Solid understanding of building systems, technical installations, and workplace safety standards.
- Experience managing access control, security, and alarm systems, including coordination with external service providers.
- Working knowledge of GMP or medical device industry requirements, including facility-related reporting, documentation, and audit participation.
Preferred Skills
- Certification in Facility Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Practical technical or craftsman background, enabling effective communication and problem-solving with maintenance personnel and external suppliers.
- Previous experience in a GMP-regulated or medical device manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of compliance-driven facility operations.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of relevant experience, preferably within a GMP or medical device company.
