PhD scholarship in Mid-Infrared Upconversion Imaging and Spectroscopy using Short Pulse Light Sources

Roskilde

DTU Fotonik works with all areas of photonic engineering, including a strong focus on optical sensor technologies. We are now seeking a PhD student to do research within short pulse upconversion. The Research will be carried out in the Optical Sensor Technologi group at Risø Campus. Starting date is November 1st 2017.

The mid-infrared (mid-IR) wavelength range is an emerging and important new topic for frontier research. Its general importance relates to a multitude of mid-IR industrial and biomedical sensor applications.

Chemical finger prints of most complex molecules such as those found in food, tissue or catalytic compounds all have vibrational spectra in the mid-IR, thus identifiable through mid-IR spectroscopy.
