The DTU Veterinary Institute (DTU Vet) invites applications for a PhD position in optimising and testing of an innovative vaccine prototype for protection of sea bass against viral encephalopathy and retinopathy virus (VERV). Sea bass is one of the most important fish species in Mediterranean aquaculture, and prophylaxis against infectious diseases is a key element for a sustainable production.
The successful applicant will be based in the Fish Diseases Unit, Department for Diagnostics and Scientific Advice, National Veterinary Institute at the Technical University of Denmark.
The PhD project is part of the Horizon2020 project Mediterranean Aquaculture Integrated Development (MedAID) and will involve close collaboration with the research partners in France, Spain, Italy, and Norway.

We are seeking a PhD student to join the Research group for Bacteriology at the National Veterinary Institute (DTU-Vet) on the topic of microbiome and resistome analyses in pigs reared without the use of antimicrobials.
The project is a part of a new multi-center research initiative on production of pigs without the use of antimicrobials in collaboration with Danish Crown, SEGES, University of Copenhagen and Statens Serum Institut.
The role of the PhD student will be to investigate how antibiotic free pig production affects the microbiome and abundance of antibiotic resistance genes in the pigs. The PhD student will use state of the art molecular methods in combination with classic microbiology techniques to analyse samples from the pigs.
