The PhD project is a cross-disciplinary project within the topic of multi-modal imaging and machine learning for mining biological features from complex big data sets. DTU Nutech, Hevesy Laboratory, Section for Medical Isotopes, invites applications for a position within R&D.
The Hevesy Laboratory is a radiochemical and radiopharmaceutical division within the Center for Nuclear Technologies (DTU Nutech), with about 25 employees working within this field. The laboratory has a 16.5 MeV cyclotron for in-house production of radioisotopes, both for PET scans (18 F, 64 Cu, 89 Zr, 52 Mn) and internal radiotherapy. These radioisotopes are put to use in radioactive pharmaceuticals. The laboratory has chemistry and biology research laboratories and clean rooms, which feature state of the art equipment for working with radioisotopes.

The section Electrochemical Materials and Interfaces (EMI) within the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage pursues research in high temperature solid state electrochemistry and its activities are dedicated to develop novel materials and characterisation techniques for high temperature electrochemical cells.
These cells can play an important role in the sustainable energy system of the future, e.g. as fuel and electrolysis cells, and in electrochemical filters and reactors. A novel application is the use of solid oxide cells for the electrochemical removal of NOx from Diesel exhaust gases.
As part of a small team within EMI you will be engaged in the development of a novel type of electrode for electrochemical deNOx. This involves synthesis of novel type of electrode materials and their electrochemical characterisation with respect to the proof-of concept testing.

DTU Nutech, the Radiation Physics Division, is seeking candidates for a PhD position to develop methods for neutronics and thermodynamic simulations of multi-fluid nuclear reactors.
The Radiation Physics Division carries out research, innovation and research-based consultancy in the fields of dosimetry, luminescence physics, and neutronics, with applications within e.g. geological and archaeological dating, radiation therapy, radiation processing, radiation protection and nuclear emergency preparedness.
The aim of this PhD project is to formulate a simple benchmark model that captures the inherent complexity of a multi-fluid nuclear reactor core. The benchmark model should be applied in investigating different approaches towards neutronics and thermal-hydraulics modelling of coupled fluid systems, and refined methods for multi-physics simulations of coupled fluid systems should be developed.

The Department of Photonics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark has an open PhD position in the project “Two-photon Selective Plane Illumination Microscopy through Fibres (T-SPIF)”. The subject of the project is at the cutting edge of science and will involve collaboration with international experts and industry.
For many human diseases, early diagnosis is crucial for a positive therapy outcome, but would require techniques for fast microscopic imaging of tissues inside the body at a resolution level of individual cells.
In this project, you will explore, theoretically and experimentally, methods of shaping both spatial and temporal beam and phase profiles of ultrafast pulses of laser light using a spatial light modulator (SLM), to generate a light sheet at the distal end of either a multimode or multicore fibre.

DTU, Department of Mechanical Engineering, the section for Manufacturing Engineering has a vacant position as PhD student in the field of optimization of the resin injection pultrusion process.
The PhD scholarship will involve developing surrogate models for the resin injection pultrusion process based on input from multi-physics models as well as data from a real pultrusion line. The surrogate models will be used for design space exploration and imbedded in a cyber-physical system that makes autonomous decisions during production.
The applicant should in general have a strong competence in numerical modelling, data analytics, machine learning as well as optimization, and preferably with special focus on manufacturing of composites. A PhD fellowship on experimental characterization and numerical modeling of magnetocaloric materials is now available at the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage, Technical University of Denmark.
This PhD position at DTU Energy will constitute the major part of a unique research project where we want to perform state-of-the-art in-situ experimental measurements of the most advanced magnetocaloric materials available and compare these to state-of-the-art numerical modelling tools also developed in the project.
In the project, advanced experiments available at DTU and at least two international partners (Imperial College London and Ames Laboratory, USA) will be conducted and subsequently compared with a state-of-the-art numerical modelling tool that embraces all the ongoing physics in these materials under dynamic conditions.
