A 3-year PhD scholarship is available at the Center for Fast Ultrasound Imaging (CFU), Department of Electrical Engineering from January 2018 co-funded by the Innovation Foundation. The scholarship is in collaboration between CFU at DTU Elektro, DTU Nanotech, BK Medical, University of Copenhagen, and the Copenhagen University Hospital (Rigshospitalet).
The project seeks to develop new advanced ultrasound super resolution imaging (SRI) techniques. SRI can increase the fundamental resolution of ultrasound by a factor of 10-100 times using isolation and tracking of micro bubbles injected into the blood stream.
The projects develops the schemes for isolating the bubbles, for tracking and visualizing them in 2D and 3D. The project also includes performing a range of phantom and animal experiments to develop and refine the SRI algorithms.

Meggitt A/S and the Department of Energy Conversion and Storage, Technical University of Denmark offer an Industrial PhD position in manufacturing and characterization of lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. Piezoelectric ceramics are widely applied – Meggitt’s products are for example used in medical ultrasound, underwater acoustics, vibration sensors and flow meters.
This project aims to develop two lead-free piezoelectric material compositions that are suitable lead-free alternatives for two of Meggitt’s lead-based materials. In addition to fulfilling a set of piezoelectric material coefficient targets, each material needs to be stable within a defined temperature and moisture operation range.

Danish Power Systems (DPS) is seeking highly motivated scientists for development of HTPEM fuel cells.
DPS is developing high temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cells based on phosphoric acid doped polybenzimidazole (the so-called HTPEM fuel cells). The clear aim of the centre is to phase out fossil fuels and thereby alleviate the negative impact the continuous use these have on the earth’s climate and environment.
PhD positions are available at V-SUSTAIN to work on the experimental development of new catalysts in one of the six sub-projects: 1) Electrochemical water splitting, 2) Photoelectrochemical water splitting, 3) Oxygen reduction in fuel cells, 4) Thermal heterogeneous catalysis for CO2 hydrogenation into alcohols, 5) Electrochemical reduction of CO2 to fuels and chemicals, and 6) Electrochemical production of ammonia.
DTU Space would like to invite applications for a 3-year PhD position starting in March 2018 on the topic of “Polar Ionospheric Currents and Geomagnetic Field Modelling”. The funding is shared between the European Research Council and the Technical University of Denmark.
The position will be based in the Division of Geomagnetism whose research focuses on exploring the Earth and its environment using its magnetic field. The geomagnetic field is a fundamental part of the Earth system, controlling interactions between the Earth and the solar wind. A PhD position is available at the Neutrons and X-rays for Materials Physics section (NEXMAP) at DTU Physics. We are seeking for a PhD student to work in the area of soft matter physics.
The planned research belongs to the physics and materials science of polymers and oligomers. Particular interests are in early crystallization of flexible polymers in solutions and in crystallization of conjugated oligomers in thin films.
An ideal candidate has experience in soft materials and in the use of synchrotron radiation and neutron scattering. Previous experience in company research is an asset. The tasks include:
- Prepare materials by gel processing and vacuum deposition
- Conduct X-ray and neutron experiments and subsequent data analysis. This includes SANS experiments and work with X-ray micro- and nanobeams.

The Department of Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Environment) advertises a fully funded 3-year PhD position in Environmental Engineering.
The goal of the PhD project is to develop a method to improve water and sediment quality in an economically feasible manner. To achieve this goal, the PhD Student will employ the microbial fuel cell technology MFC to stimulate microbial processes. The overall project is in cooperation between NIRAS, Aarhus University and DTU Environment.
