Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a position funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (MSCA-ITN) project “BBDiag” within the Horizon 2020 programme of the European Union.
The project aims to find a specific, sensitive and minimally invasive diagnostics methods to identify people with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Lack of early diagnostics and early patient enrollment is among the main reasons for many notable clinical trial failures. The main challenges in developing the required diagnostics are identification of AD biomarkers and development of their detection techniques.

A 3-year PhD position is available in the Fiber Sensors and Supercontinuum Group at DTU Fotonik, Department of Photonics Engineering, Technical University of Denmark (DTU).
The PhD project is a part of the project ECOMETA: Emission Control: Methods and Technologies for Agriculture recently funded by the Innovation Fund Denmark. It combines the efforts of 12 multi-disciplinary academic and non-academic partners across Denmark to achieve a primary food production that is 1) economically sustainable under strict environmental regulation, 2) environmentally acceptable to society and 3) contributing to creation of new jobs and economic value in associated industries.

As an Accelerator Physicist in the Hadron Synchrotron's Incoherent effects Section, you will:
- Study beam intensity and brightness limitations in the LHC injectors and in particular the Proton Synchrotron Booster (PSB), with an emphasis to space-charge effects for high-intensity and high-brightness beams, both in its current status and for the on-going upgrade studies.
- Study linear and non-linear beam dynamics (theory, simulations and experiments) including space-charge for improving the intensity, brightness preservation and transmission of the present operational PSB beams and of those foreseen for the LHC injector upgrade (LIU) project.
