Do you want to help develop innovative and environmentally friendly energy technologies for the future?
The goal of the project is to model how a rock bed thermal energy storage can be coupled to a biomass gasifier operating on the Danish electricity grid. This will require integrating scaled down version of both the rock bed and the biomass gasifier and coupling them to a simple grid level model to study how they can interact under real economic conditions in Denmark.
In addition to the modelling, test facilities for both the biomass gasifier and a small-scale rock bed thermal storage have been built at DTU Risø. A major part of the PhD project will be to design and run experiments that can verify the models that will be developed.
