The department Wine & Fermented Beverages is looking for a Laboratory Technician Trainee with a keen interest in microbiology.
The Wine & Fermented Beverages department develops microbial solutions mainly for the worldwide wine industry and supports customers in the implementation of our solutions. We work in a dynamic and positive atmosphere in modern office and laboratory facilities and in our well-equipped pilot winery, all located in Hørsholm.
As a technician trainee you will be exposed to a number of microbial techniques and specific wine analysis equipment. You will also be involved in small scale wine and fermented beverage fermentations.

We can offer you a 3.5 year Postdoc project employment in the department of Automation Technology at Novozymes in Bagsværd, Denmark. The department consists of approx. 13 people, and you will report to the Senior Department Manager. In periods, work will also be conducted in the department of Fungal Strain Technology, also located in Bagsværd.
The aim of the whole project is to establish a library of genetically diverse fungal species that can be tested as potential cell factories for expression of different bio-molecules. As an industrial partner Novozymes will evaluate expression potential of the library for industrial enzymes.

The PhD scholarship is within the Research Group for Gut Microbiology and Immunology at the National Food Institute, which focusses on effects of diet and dietary components on the microbial population of the gut and derived effects on the host metabolism and immune system.
The alarming increase of antibiotic resistant bacteria world-wide continues to threaten the future treatment of infections and calls for new approaches to identify novel antibiotic candidates.
Most antibiotics currently used are naturally derived from microbes that produce antimicrobial agents to prevent other microbes from growing. One hitherto unexploited resource for antibiotic discovery is the extremely bacteria-rich intestinal tract of mammals.

The position is part of the Biologicals Research Team at FMC’s European Innovation Center in Hørsholm, which is part of the Agricultural Solutions Global R&D Organization.
As a Junior scientist within Fermentation Discovery you will be part of the Biological Research group responsible for taking new potential lead strains through Proof-of-Concept. Your role will be to conduct research scale fermentations of potential lead strains – primary focus will be aerobic fermentations of gram positive bacteria.
You will be part of a sub-team specialized around discovery fermentations. As a junior scientist you will carry out experiments and contribute to the development and set-up of small scale cultivation systems as well as process optimization and method development.
