Part-time Lecturer with expertise in Computer Science
Department of People and Technology, Roskilde University, invites applications for a position as part-time lecturer in Computer Science from September 1, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position as part-time lecturer is limited to a period of 3 years. Assignments and hours are agreed upon with the Department prior to each semester. A fixed number of teaching hours cannot be guaranteed each semester.
Responsibilities and tasks
The part-time lecturer must independently plan and implement teaching courses according to the regulations of Roskilde University, i.e. giving lectures, planning and implementing exams and other evaluations within Computer Science. Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent high-level qualifications within Computer Science. In addition, it is a prerequisite that you either:
- have relevant high-level practical experience in Computer Science not obtained through a university appointment or
- are employed in a major position at another university
Furthermore, we place emphasis on qualifications as to the following professional areas:
- Teaching experience
- Frontend, backend, and associated development and/or deployment environments
- Applied data science/machine learning
- Physical computing
- Security
We also value that you can describe yourself as enterprising and possessing extensive collaboration skills.
Assessment
In the assessment of the applicants, emphasis will be placed on:
- Teaching experience
- Relevant practical experience or other special qualifications in case the applicant is not employed in a major position at another university
Candidates who apply by virtue of their relevant practical experience are required to possess in-depth, up-to-date knowledge on the application of the subject/field.
Introductory course
Roskilde University builds all its educational programs within the framework of the University’s joint educational model and structure. In order to ensure that all University’s lecturers have good knowledge on the educational model and the project supervision form, it is mandatory for all new employees to attend two short introductory courses:
- Introduction to Roskilde University's pedagogical approach
- Introduction to the project supervision
The courses last two and three hours respectively and are conducted as a direct extension of each other in either Danish or English. To attend the courses, the preparation is not required. The attendance does not presuppose any preliminary preparation.

The position is covered by Circular on agreements regarding part-time lecturers and assistant lecturer at universities etc. under the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.

After the deadline for applications the Dean will shortlist applicants for assessment with assistance from the recruitment committee including the chairperson of the assessment committee.
Shortly after the application deadline all applicants will be notified whether or not their application has been selected for assessment.
The shortlisted applicants will be informed about the composition of the assessment committee, and each applicant will be given the opportunity to comment on the composition of the committee and - later on - their assessment.
Once the recruitment process is completed, all applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application.
