Do you want to help shape a modern, scalable HR platform used by organisations worldwide?
At HR-ON we’re looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer who enjoys building cloud-native services, optimising data workflows, and—yes—crafting solid API integrations … but treats these as just one part of a varied engineering role.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and build core backend services in Node.js & TypeScript running on AWS serverless infrastructure (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, etc.).

  • Model and optimise data in PostgreSQL and MariaDB, ensuring performance and reliability at scale.

  • Develop and maintain GraphQL & REST endpoints that power our own product features and partner integrations.

  • Evolve the platform architecture for resilience, observability, and easy maintenance.

  • Automate CI/CD pipelines with GitLab and champion clean-code practices through code reviews and pair-programming.

  • Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps peers to deliver end-to-end features that delight our users.

API and third-party integrations remain important, but they sit alongside core service development, data engineering, and architectural work.

About You

You’re an experienced engineer who:

  • Writes production-grade Node.js/TypeScript and understands modern serverless patterns.

  • Knows your way around SQL—from schema design to complex query optimisation.

  • Has built GraphQL or REST services and integrated external systems, even if integrations aren’t your sole focus.

  • Uses GitLab (or similar) for version control, CI, and automated tests.

  • Thinks in terms of scalable, maintainable architecture and values knowledge-sharing with teammates.

Bonus Points

  • AWS infrastructure-as-code (CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation).

  • Bash/Zsh scripting on *nix systems.

  • A fondness for type-safe, declarative coding styles (e.g. fp-inspired TypeScript).

We don’t expect you to tick every box—curiosity and a growth mindset matter most.

Why HR-ON
  • High autonomy & influence over tech choices and ways of working.

  • Value-based self-management—trust, transparency, and flexibility come first.

  • Central Odense office with remote options; we still value regular in-person collaboration.

  • 50 passionate colleagues across Denmark, Germany, Norway, and Japan, united by a flat structure and meaningful work.
