The Position

As Primary Packaging Development Engineer, you'll spearhead the creation of suitable primary packaging for Novo Nordisk's medical drug projects, working closely with teams across Drug and Device Development, Production, and Supply Chain to meet standards. The role encompasses diverse tasks across the company, requiring robust teamwork for success.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Developing primary packaging systems from the ideation phase to drug product launch, such as blister packaging or pill bottles for tablets, or pre-filled syringes and vials for parenteral administration.

  • Documenting the design requirements, safety risk management and mitigations, testing, and documentation of these; enabling us to submit Clinical Trial Applications.

  • Ensuring suitable design, material, technical performance, processability, and new supply chains of the packaging systems.

  • Scouting the market and meeting with suppliers to identify and refine packaging solutions.

  • Coordinating your own workstream with stakeholders and delivering on time.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, we expect you to:

  • Hold an MSc/BSc degree in Engineering or another relevant field within the Natural Sciences.

  • Experience with primary packaging for pharmaceuticals, food, or experience with medical device development.

  • Possess knowledge of packaging materials such as aluminum, polymers, glas etc.

  • Be fluent in written and spoken English.

It will be an advantage if you have experience in Expertise in Container Closure Systems for pharmaceutical use and foils for blister packaging for tablets, including blister layout design, and knowledge of chemical/physical drug stability, with a special focus on material/drug interaction, as well as proficiency in Risk management, Risk mitigations, Supplier negotiation, and the development of strategic partnerships.

About the Department

You're entering the Primary Packaging Development Department within Devices and Delivery Solutions, part of Novo Nordisk's global Development organization, located in Hillerød near Copenhagen.

Our unit spearheads innovative delivery solutions for Novo Nordisk’s pharmaceutical products, comprising project management, engineering, and technical functions. You'll be part of a highly skilled team driving primary packaging solutions, alongside specialists and project managers, within a dynamic department of three teams.
