Do you want to take the opportunity to join us from the early stages of building a new manufacturing site and be part of NN’s global IT organisation? Do you want to be a part of our international IT and Automation team? This could be your chance to bring your own personal ambition and dedication and join our team of highly qualified colleagues, with a passion to bring better treatments to the people who need them!

The Position

The role of a DCS Automation Specialist/Engineer is pivotal in shepherding our new facilities from the design phase through to operational readiness and into operations. In this capacity, you will collaborate extensively within Novo Nordisk’s internal and external departments to our projects, as well as our Engineering Partners, to ensure comprehensive resource coverage for project tasks and to establish standardized design, implementation, and deployment procedures for highly automated solutions.

You will be leading the automation direction and strategy in conjunction with other resources across Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API). Your tasks will encompass guiding dedicated team members to ensure oversight and offer direction for issue resolution, in conjunction with solution architects and other automation specialists. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in preparing all departments for operations. Upon project completion and in operations, you will continue to support the facility by providing coaching and training, owning, and driving changes, supporting future projects, and being on call for issues that occur in our 24x7 manufacturing facility.

You will be responsible for:

  • Identifying key risks, defining requirements, and ensuring alignment of the DCS systems and all integrating solutions across the project.
  • Supporting the delivery, validation, and maintenance of the DCS systems.
  • Creating, reviewing, and approving documentation related to the design, operation, and maintenance of DCS systems.
  • Maintaining a high focus on collaborating with stakeholders, external partners, and other automation organizations across Novo Nordisk.

Your main location will be in Kalundborg, in proximity of the manufacturing sites. As a lot of our collaboration partners work around Copenhagen, it is occasionally expected that you will also travel to work in those locations.

The project is of great strategic importance to Novo Nordisk, which has high visibility and support from Senior Management. At the same time, you will have a foot inside Novo Nordisk’s IT organization which supports all major expansion projects as well as operations.

Qualifications

To succeed in the role, you have:

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. within IT or Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience with DCS systems (e.g. DeltaV, 800xA) in an industrial setting; either from operations and maintenance, or from project participation (800xA experience is a plus).
  • Experience within the Pharma industry (GMP experience is a plus) or other regulated industry.
  • The ability to communicate well in spoken and written English.

You should also have good knowledge of manufacturing processes and requirements.

As a person, you are energized by taking responsibility for automation and system integration. You are structured in your way of working and open to share information with your colleagues, work together as a team, and drive for joint results. You thrive in a multicultural environment and have an open mind-set. You have strong communication skills for collaboration with stakeholders and can translate strategy into ambitious goals with clear priorities.
