Are you an enthusiastic and talented scientist with hands-on experience with cell-based in vitro assays and a passion for digitalization and automation? Would you like to be part of a diverse and innovative department contributing to the development of life-changing therapies? Then this may be a job for you.

The position
As an Associate Scientist, you will be responsible for developing tailormade biological in vitro assays and generating high-quality data using various techniques to guide the selection of lead compounds in our research projects under the guidance of senior scientists.

Your daily work and responsibilities will include:

  • Design, troubleshooting and execution of in vitro biological experiments
  • Interpretation and documentation of experimental work
  • Presentation of data to the research projects and being part of global cross-functional project teams
  • Working closely with other scientists and laboratory technicians to share ideas, collaborate on projects and contribute to scientific initiatives

We expect that you proactively identify and resolve experimental issues and that you take an interest in identifying, implementing, and optimizing new technologies and workflows including employment of automation (e.g. liquid handlers) and efficient data handling methodologies.

The working environment is dynamic and innovative and involves interactions with colleagues from research sites in Denmark, US, UK and China, an excellent opportunity to establish a strong global scientific network.

Qualifications
To thrive in this position, we envisage that you have:

  • A master’s degree in cell biology, biochemistry, biomedicine or other relevant scientific discipline
  • Understanding of in vitro pharmacology and assay development
  • Hands-on lab experience with cellular in vitro assays such as reporter gene assays, receptor binding, HTRF and ELISA
  • Experience and flair for using liquid handlers e.g. Biomek or Hamilton
  • Strong communication skills in written and oral English

Flair for IT and programming (e.g. Python) is also a plus. Drug discovery and development experience from the pharmaceutical industry/biotech will also be considered an advantage.

As a person you are proactive and engaged with a positive attitude to new ideas, people and challenges. You can perform tasks independently and use your creativity to find solutions to scientific challenges. Since work takes place in project groups, you possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy working in teams.
