Pennecon is seeking qualified individuals to work at the Nalunaq Mine Site in Southern Greenland.
As we ramp up with this project, we are seeking motivated and talented individuals who possess the technical skills required to contribute to the project team.
Role: Welder
Location: Nanortalik, Greenland
The successful candidates will work in the field and be responsible to support the Company’s safety, quality and environmental programs, in the execution of the work.
Duties include:
- Ability to perform duties independently with minimal supervision
- Accurately read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and drawing specifications
- Fit and Tack weldments as per drawings
- Weld fabrications as per drawing
- Inspect work in progress and upon completion for adherence to drawing specifications
- Verify dimensions of fabrications for accuracy and conformance to specifications
- Adhere to CWB procedures
- Provide feedback and improvement suggestions to supervisors and implement feasible solutions.
- Adhere to all workplace safety policies, regulations and compliance legislation
- Possess a good work ethic, a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team environment
The Ideal Applicant for this position will possess the following:
Required Education and Experience
- Red Seal Ironworker or Pipefitter certification
- Must be familiar with working in construction and mining environments
- 5+ years of experience in welding in an industrial setting, working within CWB standards
- Experience working on large-scale industrial or mine construction projects
- Ability to work in a remote mine environment, including outdoor work, varying weather conditions, heights, and physically demanding conditions
- Strong knowledge of structural steel installation methods, tools, and safety procedures
- Experience with rigging, hoisting, and working at heights
- Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented environment
- Able to make sound decisions while working in a fast-paced environment near equipment and personnel
Safety Requirements
- First Aid training would be an asset
- Fall protection would be an asset
Work Schedule and Conditions
- Remote Work in Northern Climates
- Working outside
- Local accommodations provided, with camp construction pending
- This position will be required to be on an extended work schedule, with longer hours and weekend work necessary to progress the project in a short construction season 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off)
