Underground Miner

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking skilled and motivated Underground Miners, preferably Greenlandic, to join our team at Nalunaq Mine. This role involves performing various tasks related to underground mining, including drilling, blasting, scaling, mucking, and operating various equipment (jumbos, scoops, dump trucks, utility trucks, etc.) – while adhering to strict safety and environmental standards. The ideal candidate should have prior experience in underground mining.

POSITION: Underground Miner

ROTATION: 4 Weeks on / 4 Weeks off

LOCATION: Nalunaq Mine, Greenland

TYPE: Full time

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Mining Operations:

• Perform underground mining tasks such as drilling, blasting, scaling, bolting, and mucking.

• Operate and maintain underground mining equipment, including loaders, haul trucks, jumbo drills, and rock bolters.

• Follow shift plans and instructions to ensure the safe and efficient extraction of ore.

• Support ground control efforts by installing ground support systems, such as mesh, bolts, and shotcrete.

• Assist in development and stope preparation activities, including excavation and backfilling.

Safety and Compliance:

• Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and report any defects or safety concerns immediately.

• Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency response drills.

• Ensure compliance with Greenlandic regulations and company policies.

Maintenance and Housekeeping:

• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of mining equipment and tools.

• Maintain clean and organized work areas to prevent hazards and ensure operational efficiency.

• Report and document any maintenance issues or unsafe conditions promptly.

Team Collaboration:

• Work effectively with other miners, supervisors, and technical staff to achieve production targets.

• Communicate effectively during shift handovers to ensure seamless operations.

• Provide support to other team members as needed to maintain safe and efficient operations.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship
• Flexibility to work shifts in a remote, rotational setting.
• Good communication skills in English and/or Greenlandic.
• Good teamwork skills, with the ability to report effectively and work with maintenance and technical teams.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work in a physically demanding and confined environment.
• Physically capable of handling long hours, standing for extended periods, and performing tasks as required.
