We are looking for an experienced organic synthesis chemist to join our experienced chemistry team and well-equipped synthesis lab in Copenhagen, DK, where you will contribute to the discovery and development of innovative therapeutic solutions. You will be working in a team that is responsible for designing and developing novel synthetic routes for macrocycles, building blocks, including non-natural amino acids and peptoids. We work with both solution and solid phase synthesis and implement new chemistries into Orbis’ synthesis platform.

As a key member of the chemistry team, you will:

  • Develop synthetic routes for novel building blocks, including non-natural amino acids.
  • Synthesize non-peptidic building blocks, peptidomimetic replacements, and macrocycles with minimized peptidic characteristics.
  • Lead the synthesis of macrocycles in the hit-to-lead and lead optimization phases and support candidate development.
  • Contribute to the integration of new building blocks into Orbis’ synthesis platform.
  • Manage and perform the upscaling of building blocks, advanced intermediates, and final compounds from milligram to gram scale.
  • Have a proactive role in having a safe, up-to-date, and well-functioning chemistry lab.
  • Generate, manage, analyze, and maintain critical data in a highly organized manner.
  • Be working in cross-functional project teams as subject matter expert.
  • Be involved in CRO collaboration.

The successful candidate has:

  • PhD in chemistry or pharmaceutical science with focus on organic synthesis
  • Pharma industry experience as a synthetic organic chemist.
  • You have been working in several drug discovery projects, across hit-to-lead, lead optimization, and candidate nomination projects in an industry setting.
  • You are very motivated by having a active lab role.
