Join Our Global R&D Team as an Application Engineer

At the Va group (Vestas aircoil), we’re engineering the future of heat transfer solutions. As part of our global R&D team, you’ll help turn lab concepts into automated processes – bringing innovation directly to our production sites across the world.
What you’ll be doing
As R&D Application Engineer, you’ll help scale new technology from lab to production (TRL4 to TRL7), working closely with production teams and our Romanian site. You will:
- Accelerate technology implementation in production
- Mature New Technologies through rapid experimentation, prototyping and technical development
- Lead development projects and drive automation projects
- Collaborate cross-functionally to scope and deliver value-focused solutions
- Translate technical concepts for non-specialist audiences
- Support patent applications and promote our R&D lab internally and externally
- Run small-scale experiments and rapid prototyping (machining/additive manufacturing)
- Ensure lab compliance and contribute to maintaining a safe, innovative workspace
What we’re looking for
- Technical degree (Mechanical/Marine Engineer, Toolmaker, or similar)
- Understand mechanical and mechatronic systems and how tools and machinery operate
- Understanding the properties of different materials and their suitability for specific tools or applications in productions
- Structured, curious mindset with strong communication skills
- Willingness to travel as part of the role is required
- Fluent in English (written/spoken)
- Comfortable with MS Office, Teams, and SharePoint
