About the role
The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for the analytical procedures of crushing and pulverizing drill core, mine control and process samples and analyze the samples with different analytical methods on-site.
- Operate and perform maintenance
- Perform wet assay analytical works including gravimetric and volumetric analyses
- Prepare sample dilutions, instrument operating solutions and calibration standards
- Test and evaluate calibration standards
- Identify and correct QC related problems by ensuring the quality of the analytical data meets ALS standards
- Follow up on rush priority work orders
- Effectively liaise within department to communicate safety, quality, and operational issues
- Ensure all work instructions and standard working procedures are strictly adhered to
- In conjunction with the supervisor, perform tests to modify and improve analytical procedures
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety requirements within the Safety Manual and communicating all safety concerns to the Manager
- Ensure storage of hazardous waste in accordance with regulated health & safety procedures
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures
- Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Manager
This role is subject to a rotation schedule with the weeks depending on where you are based.
About you
We are looking for someone who has strong analytical and mechanical skills; is a detailed oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality. You are organized, highly motivated and able to work independently or as a part of a team. You have:
- Recognized Diploma or Degree in Science required, with a focus in Chemistry preferred, or completion of the BC Assayers certification program required;
- Minimum of 1 year laboratory experience in analytical chemistry, instrumentation, or a related field preferred.
- The ability to express yourself well verbally and in writing in Danish and English, Greenlandic is an advantage.
