Knowledge Management Advisor Position at Forests of the World

Are you passionate about forest conservation and global sustainability? Do you have experience in institutional knowledge management? Are you ready to play a key role in shaping the global dialogue on forest conservation through impactful knowledge sharing? Then we want to hear from you!

At Forests of the World (FoW), we’ve been working for over four decades to advance forest conservation and sustainable development worldwide. Climate change and deforestation continue to threaten and destroy forest ecosystems that millions of people depend on, and we are committed to leading the charge in halting this trend. Our approach to conservation is rights-based and rooted in inclusion, collaboration, and global partnerships.

We are looking for a Knowledge Management Advisor to join our dedicated team and help strengthen our ability to develop, manage, and share valuable knowledge created through our conservation and development work, promote cross-cutting learning and engage stakeholders for forest conservation.

Your tasks will include

Knowledge management:

  • Gather, accumulate and structure learnings and information from colleagues and partners’ work in and around the forests we work in, in close collaboration with the MEAL responsible.
  • Lead the development, management, institutionalization and sharing of knowledge products in close collaboration with our advisors, Hub teams and communication staff in East Africa, South America, Central America, and Denmark.
  • Co-develop concepts, methodologies, e-learning, innovative/signature approaches and promote learning and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the organization to ensure that lessons learnt are disseminated and acted upon.
  • Assist in identifying funding opportunities for knowledge products and campaigns, and contribute to the development of proposals and reports for donors

Outreach:

  • Lead the transformation of internal information into outward-facing knowledge products that can be used in various contexts — such as campaigns, reports etc. working closely with staff in East Africa, South America, Central America, and Denmark, and particularly with the Communication & Engagement team.

Your qualifications

We expect that you have:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in knowledge management, public outreach, or a related field, ideally within the NGO or international cooperation sectors.
  • A relevant academic background, ideally at a master’s level.
  • Strong experience developing knowledge products from an international, multi-stakeholder context.
  • Good organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • An understanding of global environmental issues, particularly in relation to forest management and conservation, biodiversity, indigenous peoples and sustainable development.
  • Experience working in a collaborative and cross-cultural environment.

We also require that you:

  • Speak and write English and Spanish fluently; Danish is an advantage.
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders, from policymakers to local communities.
  • Have experience working with digital tools and platforms, such as e-learning platforms, KoBoToolbox, GIS or other, for knowledge sharing and communication.
  • Have experience in organising conferences, webinars or other dissemination venues and events.
  • Are willing to travel internationally as needed (up to 9 weeks per year).

We offer

  • An exciting, full-time position based in Denmark, with opportunities to work internationally.
  • A dynamic, fast-paced working environment at the forefront of global forest conservation efforts.
  • A supportive and collaborative team where your ideas and contributions are valued.
  • The opportunity to work in a sociocratic organisation in which you will have great responsibility and influence.

Terms of employment

  • Full-time, 37 hours per week.
  • This position is based at our headquarters in Copenhagen, with travel opportunities to FoW’s regional hubs and field locations. From September 2025 we will be located at the newly established VOX Civil Society House on Østerbro.
  • Salary and employment conditions follow the local House Agreement at FoW which is guided by the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC), with placement depending on experience and education.
  • Expected start date: September 1st, 2025.

Application process

Please submit your CV (max 4 pages) and a cover letter in English to job@forestsoftheworld.org by June 23, 2025 at 10.00 (CET).
