Lead Simulation Developer

At Energy Machines, we specialize in designing and delivering turnkey integrated energy systems focused on the electrification of heating and cooling. Our solutions leverage heat pumps, geothermal energy storage, and heat recovery to efficiently move energy from where it exists to where it’s needed, transforming buildings from brown to green and setting a new standard for energy efficiency.

We are now looking for a Lead Simulation Developer that will play an important role in developing our simulation software, enabling a continued scaleup of the business and further develop our technical platform.

About the role

As Lead Simulation Developer, you will be part of our R&D team. The team works continuously to develop and maintain Energy Machines' technical platform. This platform includes system design, heat pump development, software development, and development of control systems. The technical platform is applied through our project process, from the first sales phase to a completed and commissioned integrated energy system.

As Lead Simulation Developer, you will work to develop both new simulation software and maintain and optimize our existing software. Further, you will collaborate with the Sales-, Design-, Control- and Operations teams in understanding and supporting their needs. This is crucial to scale up Energy Machines' business further, and to deliver projects on time and with high quality.

Our software development is closely connected to our design processes and technical platform, so having a solid understanding of HVAC systems and heat pump technology is essential.

Your responsibilities

  • Develop thermal models of Energy Machines systems based on our modular design structure.
  • Implementing intuitive and professional front-end functionalities together with our partners
  • Incorporate cost and price functionalities into the software, for accurate cost estimations in the project phases
  • Verifying the accuracy of models and simulations
  • Supporting our sales processes
  • Work with the Design-, Control- and Operations teams in understanding their needs and- using these to further development, optimize our system designs and controls

Your background and profile

We are looking for a team member, who is:

  • Experienced in developing software for technical applications. This includes but is not limited to testing, version control and documentation.
  • Highly proficient in Python for data science and scientific computing (preferably also back-end development).
  • Experienced with Julia for scientific computing.
  • Experienced with front-end development. As a minimum HTML, CSS, Javascript, ideally also React.
  • Skilled in systems thinking and can understand complex system interactions.
  • Knowledgeable about mechanical engineering and thermal energy systems.
  • Eager to learn and grow as an expert, enjoying collaboration, interaction and sharing ideas with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Holds an M.Sc./Ph.D. degree in relevant field or similar equivalent experience
