Who are we?

Slipgate Ironworks is a game development studio in Aalborg, Denmark, built by fans of classic action and strategy games. We recently developed Tempest Rising—and now, we're gearing up for our next big title! At Slipgate we embrace a culture that is collaborative, informal and inclusive, and we are looking for two motivated Senior Gameplay Programmers who can contribute to and grow with our team culture.

Job Description

As our Senior Gameplay Programmer, you will have the responsibility of dealing with advanced programming tasks in C++, designing, implementing, optimizing and maintaining parts of the game code in Unreal Engine 5. You will also be collaborating closely with other developers and game designers in developing game features as well as game development tools for Unreal Engine 5.

Job Responsibilities

  • Architect, plan, and implement new game systems while optimizing and fixing bugs in existing systems in Unreal Engine 5.
  • Write robust, maintainable code with performance in mind.
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex gameplay issues across multiple systems.
  • Conduct code reviews, including providing feedback and coaching other programmers on the project when necessary.
  • Mentor junior programmers and help define best practices within the programming team.

We’re specifically looking for two candidates who ideally have the following skills:

Soft skills:

Hard skills:

  • 5+ years of programming experience within the video games industry (or 2 AA+/AAA projects shipped) working extensively with Unreal Engine and C++. Alternatively, you have worked with C++ and software development in an adjacent or related industry. You have a strong portfolio showcasing work in games.
  • Knowledge of advanced mathematics and algorithms and excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine (and C++) coding principles and practices as well as strong multi-threaded programming skills.
  • Experience optimizing for performance, especially in multiplayer or large-actor-count scenarios.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a collaborative team environment.

You should be able to effortlessly and effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.

Salary range: 420.000-600.000 DKK per year + pension and benefits. Salary will be negotiated.
