The SDU Center for Energy Informatics is currently seeking highly qualified and motivated individuals for open 4+4 PhD positions.

The starting date is 1 September 2024 and applicants must be enrolled in a master’s programme at the Faculty of Engineering, SDU and have completed the first year of the master’s programme at the time of enrollment in the PhD School to be eligible for a 4+4 PhD position.

Application procedure

Before applying the candidates are expected to read the Faculty information for prospective PhD students, SDU information on How to apply, and Faculty information on How to apply – Academic staff.

The application must be in English and must include:

  • Completed TEK PhD application form for 4+4 applicants. Find the form at the Faculty website.
  • Completed TEK PhD form for calculation grade point average. Find the form at the Faculty website.
  • Motivated personal application.
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae.
  • Verified copies of the official bachelor diploma and transcripts of exams, both the original documents and in professional English translation.
  • An official document describing the grading scheme of the awarding universities (if not Danish) for bachelor’s degree.
  • Verified copies of current master's transcripts of records from University of Southern Denmark.

The application may also include:

  • References, you're welcome to use the form for reference letter at the Faculty website.
  • List of publications and maximum 2 examples of relevant publications (in case you have any publications).

Assessment and selection process

Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee or an expert. Shortlisting may be applied. Only shortlisted candidates will receive a written assessment. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the faculty. Interviews and tests may be part of the selection process.

Conditions of employment
To be considered for the position it is required that the applicant is enrolled in a master’s programme (kandidatuddannelse) at the Faculty of Engineering, SDU, and has completed the first year at the time for enrollment.

The 4+4 PhD fellowship programme is divided into a 22 month grant period followed by an employment period. When the master's degree (kandidatuddannelse) is achieved and you as least have attained a grade of 10 (Danish scale), you will be employed at the same terms as a 3-year PhD fellowship. The enrollment and employment will cease without further notice at the end of the 4-year period. A PhD fellow is not allowed to have any kind of sideline employment, while enrolled as PhD fellow at the faculty.

Employment is governed by the Protocol on PhD Research Fellows signed by the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Further information about salary and conditions of employment.

The successful candidate will be enrolled at SDU in accordance with Faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD order).
