The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute is an internationally recognized institute, which has maintained a leading position in robotics for more than three decades. The institute is the origin of robotics research in Denmark and has spawned the world-renowned cluster of robotics in Odense with more than 130 robotics companies including Universal Robots and Mobile Industrial Robots. Building on our expertise in robotics and software, we have raised strong research centers in related domains, such as Health Informatics and Energy Informatics, and in recent years also put the institute in the lead of drone research.

The institute is currently expanding its engagement in software technology, software engineering, and Modeling and Simulation, including:

  • Software development and programming technologies
  • Data driven decision support and digital twins
  • Modeling and Simulation
  • Software technology for cyber-physical systems (e.g. robotics)
  • Software testing and debugging

These areas are central to our activities in Robotics and Software, as well as a broad range of application domains, including industrial applications in collaboration with local and international industrial partners. You will interact with a dynamic group of researchers working in interdisciplinary teams on developing potent solutions to societal challenges.

We expect

You have a PhD in software engineering/computer science or another computational discipline relevant to this position. You have achieved publication and funding success commensurate with the position as an associate professor. You are an excellent collaborator, able to work in complex international multi-stakeholder environments. You are also an effective and inspiring communicator end attentive listener.

Assessment and selection process

Conditions of employment

Employment associate professor is permanent.

Employment as an associate professor requires academic qualifications at PhD level as well as scientific and educational qualifications at a level achievable based on satisfactory completion of a period of employment as assistant professor/researcher but may be achievable by other means.

The position as an associate professor involves primary responsibilities related to research (including the obligation to publish and disseminate scientific knowledge) and research-based teaching (including examination duties) – research and teaching obligations equally. Additionally, the role may encompass knowledge exchange with society, including participation in public debates. Furthermore, it may entail responsibilities such as research management, curriculum development, guidance, supervision, and scholarly assessment.

The university determines the specific allocation of tasks, and the emphasis on these tasks may vary over time.

Employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministry of Finance's current Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities. Employment and salary are in accordance with the collective agreement for state-employed academics.
