The American Embassy in Copenhagen, Denmark is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Architect, available within the Facilities section.

The work schedule for this position: Full Time, 40 hours per week.

Some of your tasks include, among others:

  • Under the supervision of the Facility Manager, acting as the technical lead for the Facility Management (FM) section. Working with a team of skilled tradespersons, they are responsible for maintaining the Embassy building systems, including component assemblies and finishes, both interior and exterior.
  • Overseeing the design and project management of sustainment, modernization, repairs, building improvements, alterations, extensions, or restoration projects; reviewing Statements of Work SOW) and building documents to ensure designs are code compliant, functional and within budgetary restraints.
  • Acting as Contract Officer’s Representative (COR), Government Technical Monitor (GTM) or the equivalent on post facility contracts.
  • Implementing all safety regulations on post facilities and residential properties.

Position Requirements

You have a high degree of cultural sensitivity and:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a project architect in major complexes (e.g., resorts, hospitals, office complexes, large educational institutions) with a focus on managing preventative maintenance programs using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Proven track record of increasing responsibility in project management, including scope development, construction documents, and cost estimation for various construction and equipment projects.
  • Strong understanding of project planning principles for both simple and complex projects, including the ability to innovate and modify plans as needed.
  • Proficiency in preparing Statements of Work (SOW), cost estimates, and using AutoCAD for drafting and designing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related field from an institution with a curriculum accredited by NAAB, ABET, or an equivalent.
  • Fluency in Danish and English, with strong reading, writing, and speaking skills.
  • A valid driver’s license with some driving experience.

The job holder’s experience should include one year of supervisory experience.
